The master cylinder and ABS braking system failed, rendering the vehicle inoperable and leaving my family stranded approximately 285 miles from home. This represents a serious safety defect, as the braking system malfunctioned while the vehicle was in operation. The dealership has confirmed the issue, and the vehicle has remained in their possession for over two weeks awaiting parts and repair. During the failure, multiple warning indicators illuminated, including the ABS, Service ESC, and brake system lights. Once the brake system engaged, I was unable to release it or drive the vehicle any further.
My traverse breaks gave out while going to pick my kids from school. I cannot safely drive my vehicle. Master break cylinder needs replacement,

a week after purchase with less than 300 miles and 5 days the ABS, Trac Control, ESC, lights came on.. The same TSB known to the 2024 Chev Traverse are happening to my car, the same parts suggested in that TSB are what I am being told is being replaced in mine... The TSB I found includes 2025 Buick Enclave and 2024 Traverse. Seems the 2025 is probably having the same issue. The brakes did not fail but the lights remained on, the sealer advised the car was unsafe to operate until the parts were replaced. I am in a loaner car under factory warranty of course but I think the TSB should be expanded to include 2025 Traverse as well.

Service ESC & Brake Assist lights came on after only 4 months with the vehicle. The vehicle also abruptly slammed on the automatic brakes when backing into a parking spot with no obstacle present prior to the service lights indicating any issues. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder nearly two weeks ago, but the part is still on national backorder and will be stuck at the dealership for an undetermined amount of time with no loaners available. There are plenty other accounts of this same issue happening to other newly-bought '25 Traverses, and the N242482170 bulletin related to the '24 model hints at this being a recurring issue. This safety issue on a brand new vehicle without recognition/resolve is unacceptable.
On September 30 I was on my way to work as I was merging to join a busy highway my breaks failed to work. I had to press them really hard but it took for ever to yield. I made hand signals to the cars I was about to strike and they were able to break before I hit them as I was merging. When this happened 3 service lights appeare…

Service ESC system, Break assist failure. Press hard to break.Speed limited. Key missing, check for key. i had an appointment for a cracked windshield on Friday the 3rd and Richland Chevrolet in Roswell. I took my traverse in on Wednesday afternoon and never heard back from them. on Monday October 6 I called and they advised me that my car needed a master cylinder and it was on back order. They said they could not give me an ETA because they have no idea when it will be available. They do not have a loaner because I did not purchase the vehicle their so I called the dealership where I bought it and they cant help me either.
Warning light ‘Service Electronic Stability Control’ appeared 2 days ago. Vehicle feels unbalanced, steering wheel has excessive play (like driving a boat), and control is compromised. Mileage over 10,000. Safety concern due to difficulty handling.”
My chevy has 3000 miles on it and the service the brake Assist and service the ESC Information flashes on the screen and the Brake and ABS lights are lit up.
Was traveling down the road at about 45 mph and the dash started to show a brake assist failure error and alarm. The brakes would not work and nearly went through the intersection during a red light.
The service ESC, service brake assist came on. The ABS light, Brake light, crash light and lane assist light are all on. The dealership said it is the Brake Master Cylinder and module with fluid that is the problem and it is on national back order.

On April 11, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE24011 after receiving complaints concerning a loss of brake assist in 2023 MY Cadillac Lyriq vehicles. These complaints allege a hard brake pedal, followed by a “Brake System Failure” message at start up or while driving. GM shared records regarding several internal investigations for loss of brake assist due to alleged spindle fractures in the eBoost system. GM has stated that in the event of a spindle fracture, anti-lock brakes (ABS), stability control, and traction control remain functional until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. At this point, ABS, brake assist, stability control, and traction control functions are lost. The loss of these functions causes the vehicle to set one of three Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) based on failed performance criteria for the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). These DTCs, in turn, activate several driver alerts: an audible chime, a visual “Service Brake System” message in the display, and multiple illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lights (MILs) for the ABS, Traction Control, and Brakes informing the driver of loss of functionality. The vehicle speed will also be limited to 70 KPH (43 MPH). Since opening PE24011, ODI has continued to receive reports of loss of brake assist. Some of these reports describe symptoms inconsistent with GM’s description of a spindle failure. These reports allege an immediate loss of brake assist functionality as opposed to the loss occurring after the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The sudden loss of brake assist during a braking event could result in extended braking distance, which increases the risk of a crash or injury. ODI believes further analysis is necessary to assess the potential for failures in GM’s eBoost system to resulting in safety-related outcomes. At this time, ODI is aware of the following vehicles that are equipped with this eBoost system: 2023-2026 MY Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon; 2024-2026 MY Buick Enclave, Envision; Chevrolet Blazer EV, Equinox EV, Traverse; Cruise Origin; and GMC Acadia; 2025-2026 MY Cadillac Celestiq and Optiq. ODI is also aware of 2024-2026 MY Acura ZDX and 2024-2026 MY Honda Prologue vehicles that were built with this system. The Acura and Honda vehicles were manufactured by GM in a joint venture with Honda, and will be included in the Engineering Analysis as peer vehicles. ODI is opening this Engineering Analysis to further assess the safety-related consequences of a failed eBoost system. In addition, ODI is expanding the scope of the investigation to encompass all GM vehicles that share this eBoost system.
