The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop. After the failure, the "Service ESC" and "Service Power Steering" messages were displayed. The contact stated that months later, upon starting the vehicle, the "Shift to Park" message was displayed and the vehicle failed to recognize that the shifter was still in park(P). The check engine and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the braking system needed to be updated and that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 15,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH with the cruise control activated, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated erroneously. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving to his destination. The contact also stated that the vehicle occasionally accelerated independently. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The contact stated that he had taken the vehicle to the local dealer three times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 500. The VIN was not available.

General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Buick Encore GX and 2021-2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles. The emergency jack, if not positioned as directed in the vehicle owner's manual, can fracture while in use.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A fractured jack can cause the vehicle to collapse, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the jack, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owner of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 26, 2021. A second notice will be mailed once remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
