TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET S-10. WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE REACHED 1/4 OF A TANK, IT FAILED TO GO ANY HIGHER AND CAUSED A MISCALCULATION OF THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT RAN OUT OF GAS ONCE BECAUSE OF THE INCORRECT READING ON THE FUEL GAUGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE SENSORS WERE CHANGED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,593 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.

CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: SOME OF THESE VEHICLES INCLUDE INCORRECT STATEMENTS ON ONE OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LABELS.

Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH CORRECT LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON JUNE 4, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.
