26 reports1. MOUNTING FRAME ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HIGH BACK BUCKET SEAT FRACTURED. 2. DRIVER'S POT METAL DOOR HANDLE FATIGUED UNTIL IT BROKE. SEVERAL 1996 SUBURBANS OWNED BY THE MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
BOLTS ATTACHED TO SEAT FRAME HAVE LOOSENED AND FRACTURED, CAUSING SEATBACK TO RECLINE. CONSUMER CLAIMED THIS VEHICLE HAD SAME DEFECT AS MENTIONED IN RECALL 96E010000, BUT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL DUE TO VIN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
DRIVER'S SEATBACK MOVES BACK UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN APPLYING LITTLE PRESSURE.ALSO UPON APPLYING BRAKES THERE MAY BE LOSS OF CONTROL. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

DRIVERS SIDE SEAT FRAME BROKE, THE BOLT WAS ATTACHED TO FRAME, AND IT BROKE OFF, CAUSING THE CHAIR TO ROCK. VEHICLE SEAT HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY REINFORCING THE FRAME WITH STRONGER WELDS. *AK

THREADED PIECE OF METAL WELDED TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT TRACK BROKE CAUSING SEAT TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH. MJS
WHILE BRAKING THE DRIVER'S SIDE BUCKET SEAT BROKE AT THE LEFT FRONT MOUNTING BOLT/FRAME BRACKET UNDER THE SEAT. THIS CAUSED THE SEAT TO HAVE FREE MOVEMENT IN A ROCKING TYPE MOTION WHILE TRAVELING/BRAKING, AND ACCELERATING. SEATS' FREE MOVEMENT FEELS UNSAFE, AS IF JUST A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THE ENTIRE BASE MOUNT GIVES WAY. *AK

THE OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATION HAS RECEIVED 375 REPORTS ALLEGING FAILURE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME WHICH IS PRONE TO BREAKAGE AT THE LEFT FRONT ATTACHING POINT.WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE SEAT MAY TILT AWAY FROM THE RISER DURING ACCELERATING OR BRAKING.(SEE CLOSING REPORT)
