Air BagsCrash
I WAS HIT BY A TRUCK DRIVING AT LEAST 50MPH. HIS AIR BAGS ALL WENT OFF, MINE DID NOT. I WAS AT A ROLLING START TO DRIVE, HE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. WITH THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE DONE TO THE CAR AND THE FORCE OF THE ACCIDENT IT IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF TO SAVE ME FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL SO HARD.

GM SERVICE BULLETIN PIP5197J (AS AMENDED 10/2018) DESCRIBES MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE PCV AND NON RETURN VALVE ON THIS ENGINE. IF EITHER PART FAILS IT IS A COSTLY REPAIR AND CAN LEAD TO OIL SPRAYING OUT OF THE VALVE COVER/INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE IN OCTOBER AND HAS HAPPENED TO A HUGE NUMBER OF OTHER VEHICLES IN THE PAST 6 YEARS. THE OIL EXPECTORATE FROM THE ENGINE CAN BURN AND CAUSE SMOKE TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT LEADING TO RESPIRATORY ISSUES FOR THE PASSENGERS. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN TO GM BUT THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL OR SERVICE WARRANTY EXTENSION. IN ADDITION TO THE SMOKE ISSUE, THE OIL CAN ALSO FORM A HAZARD ON THE ROADWAY THROUGH OIL DROPLETS. A VERY TINY STOPPER BALL IN THE VALVE CAN MALFUNCTION, LEADING TO A CASCADE OF FAILURES THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE. THE SERVICE BULLETIN COVERS 4 SPECIFIC MODELS OF VEHICLES FROM 2011-2019.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT ON THE SAFETY HAZARD CAUSED BY FAULTY BLIND SPOT DETECTORS ON CHEVY CRUZES. I STARTED RECEIVING A NOTIFICATION ON MY DASHBOARD THAT THE BLIND SPOT ALERT SYSTEM NEEDED SERVICE. ONLY A WEEK LATER I WAS RECEIVING NOTIFICATIONS THAT THE ALERT WAS TURNED OFF. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER THEY RAN THE SOFTWARE AND SAID THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BLIND SPOT DETECTOR MODULES FOR $900. AT FIRST GM SEEMED WILLING TO WORK AND START A CASE FILE AND LOWERED THE PRICE TO $734. CURRENTLY MY CARS BLIND SPOT ISN'T WORKING AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE SPREAD TO THE REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT WHICH IS NOTIFYING ME THAT IT'S TURNED OFF AS WELL. THE CHEVY DEALER SAID THAT THEY WOULD TRY AND REPLACE THE BLIND SPOT MODULES AND HOPEFULLY THAT WOULD FIX THE REAR CROSS TRAFFIC DETECTORS. DUE TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT (SEEN HERE) HTTPS://WWW.TRUTHINADVERTISING.ORG/WP-CONTENT/UPLOADS/2018/05/HUDSON-V-GENERAL-MOTORS-COMPLAINT.PDF AND VARIOUS OTHER ONLINE COMPLAINTS ( HTTPS://CHEVROLETFORUM.COM/FORUM/IMPALA-14/BLIND-SPOT-DETECTION-PROBLEM-81694/PAGE2/) I BELIEVE CHEVROLET AND GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE FAULTY SAFETY SYSTEMS THEY HAVE INSTALLED.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR THE RADIO DASHBOARD WILL START FLASHING ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN THEN WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE DASHBOARD IS COMPLETELY BLACK AND THE CAR WILL NOT TURN ON AT ALL. 3/28/2019 AROUND 11PM THE CAR RADIO DASH BOARD WAS FLASHING AND I TURN MY CAR OFF AND IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO TAKE THE KEY OUT AT ALL WELL SOME TIME THROUGH OUT THE NIGHT THE CAR TURNED BACK ON BECAUSE AT 6AM THE LIGHTS WHERE BACK ON IN MY CAR BY ITSELF. THE NEXT MORNING I DRIVE MY CAR TO SCHOOL AND IT DOES THE SAME THING WITH THE DASHBOARD AND FLASHING ON AND OFF AND IT SHUTS OFF AGAIN, THIS TIME I GET A JUMP START AND THE CAR IS BACK WORKING. THE CAR ALSO ACT AS IF IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IT. BUT IT HAS DONE THIS TO ME BACK ON NOVEMBER 8,2018. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE DRIVING THIS CAR BEACUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF WHILE ON THE ROAD. SOMEONE HAS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IF SOME ONE DIE IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND IT IS FOUND TO BE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THERE IS A BIG LAW SUIT COMING. I AM MAKING THIS COMPLAINT JUST FOR THAT. WE SPENDS LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON A CAR AND WHEN THE CAR HAS A DEFECT THE CONSUMERS ARE MESSED OVER BY THE DEALERSHIPS AND WHOM EVER MAKES THE CAR. In cold temperatures, the insulation on the engine block heater cord can become damaged, allowing the wires to be exposed.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Exposed wires increase the risk of electrical shock and personal injury if the cord is handled while it is plugged in.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine oil pan/block heater cord with a new cord that is rated for temperatures of minus 40 degree Celsius. The recall began in August 2014. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14257.
Jun 26, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the driver's front air bag inflator may have been manufactured with an incorrect part.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's air bag, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike and potentially seriously injure the vehicle occupants. Additionally, if the air bag does not inflate, the driver is at an increased risk of injury.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver side air bag, free of charge. The recall began on June 28, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14305.
Mar 31, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles equipped with a 1.4L turbo engine, and manufactured between November 28, 2012, and March 7, 2014. On the affected vehicles, the right front half shaft may fracture and separate.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If the half shaft fractures and separates while driving, the vehicle would lose power and coast to a stop. If a vehicle with a fractured half shaft is parked without the parking brake applied, the vehicle could move unexpectedly. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the right half shaft, as needed, free of charge. Parts for the remedy are not currently available. GM will send an interim letter to owners in May 2014. A second owner letter will be mailed when parts are available. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546. GM's number for this recall is 14079. This is an expansion of recall 13V-452. NOTE: Some vehicles subject to this recall were subject to the recall campaign initiated in 2013. Some of those vehicles were repaired using defective parts. Those owners will be advised that they must have their vehicles remedied again under this campaign and that having the earlier recall completed did not remedy their vehicles.
Feb 21, 2014
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Buick Regal, LaCrosse, Verano, and Enclave, and Chevrolet Impala, Malibu, Cruze, and Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable adjuster may disengage from the transmission shift lever. As such, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." They also fail to conform to FMVSS number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: If a vehicle's shift cable disengages from the transmission shift lever, a driver may be unable to shift gear positions and the indicated shift position may not represent the gear position the vehicle is in. Should a disengagement occur while the vehicle is being driven, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, the driver may be able to shift the lever to the "PARK" position, but the vehicle transmission may not be in the "PARK" gear position. If the vehicle is not in the "PARK" position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any affected transmission shift cable adjusters, free of charge. The recall began on April 10, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-222-1020, Buick owners at 1-800-521-7300, and GMC owners at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors' number associated with this recall is 14048.
Sep 23, 2013
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles equipped with manual transmissions (MF3/MR5) and manufactured January 24, 2013, through August 1, 2013.
Remedy: General Motors has notified owners. Dealers will replace the half shaft assembly, free of charge. The safety recall began on October 15, 2013. Owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-521-7300. This is General Motors campaign number 13276.
