The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH and steering the vehicle around a bend in the highway to the left, the power steering malfunctioned. The contact stated that an unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to drive the vehicle without the aid of power steering due to the speed. The contact drove the vehicle to his residence and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted the vehicle the power steering functionality returned. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V213000 (Steering). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,300.

Yes I am filing a complaint due to my high-pressure fuel pump line and also the fuel pump. The fuel pump works but it is very dry rotted on the top therefore resulting in a lot of cracks and pressure loss. I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado four-door. When I go to look up recalls there is recalls on the 2016 to 2018 Chevy Colorado’s due to this exact problem. But when I call Dell Earnhardt Chevrolet in Tallahassee Florida they state that it does not include my Vin number. I think it’s kind of funny that my truck is having this exact issue but not this phone number please obviously the recall needs to be expanded to include my Vin numbers. Anyway it goes I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado that I paid cash money for and there is no way should my fuel pump be dry rotted and cracked like it is and the fuel pump is still in working condition. What led me to this diagnosis was I was driving down the highway when multiple times my vehicle jaunted to a halt. I was able to crank it back up and go a few more miles before it would happen again. At this point I took it to my mechanic to put it on a code reader and it was reading fuel pump modular. I Cut a hole in the bed of my truck and was able to save fuel spraying everywhere for my high-pressure fuel pump line. I ordered this line from Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet for $62. When we get there and put the line on the fuel pump it is the fuel pump nipple and the top of the fuel pump is extremely dry rotted and cracked. There is no way should the fuel pump be dry rotted and crack on a six year old vehicle. Like I said the light never came on till after a few times of shouting me to a halt and this is my complaint

The transmission sucks. It’s jerky, rough, and random. Downshifting from 5th to 4th and 2nd to 1st is rough. Stopping the vehicle can be a pain sometimes because it’s like the truck doesn’t want to stop. Acceleration is very poor, I shouldn’t have to go pedal to floor to accelerate 5+mph while at highway speeds. It shudders, chuggles, and creates a weird deep droning noise when getting up too speed While driving, the engine picks and chooses when to speed up. I press the gas peddle down and have to wait a few seconds before the vehicle responds. I have noticed the vehicle making sounds like it is sputtering almost to the point to seizing all together. Slow and go driving 20-40mph after coasting and trying to accelerate again the transmission bucks, hesitates trying to find a lower gear. It can’t decide which gear to go into and just sputters and chugs until I push the accelerator 1/2 way down or more and it the finds its gear and rockets off. This type of driving is not safe at all. This happens all the time. This is a known gm issue with Colorado/Canyons and GM changed transmissions following years and no support for 2015-16. It sucks at maintaining speeds; even with cruise control. I go up the slightest, and I mean like a 2% grade incline it loses its speed by 2-5 mph. And with cruise control it’ll down shift to get back to the set speed but I go nowhere. Then it’ll downshift again to a lower gear and climbs even higher in RPMs to get up to speed and then cruise control will shut off and I’ll have to manually accelerate.

The traction control warning light, stabilitrak, and power steering service warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the rack and pinon needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 21V213000 (Steering) nor 16V054000 (Steering). The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

Colorado truck has been experiencing intermittent failure of power steering system for several weeks. This has occurred on start up and also while vehicle is moving. The problem may resolve temporarily on its own and then recur at another time. Watson Chevrolet evaluated this problem on 9/28/22 and found “DTC UO420 42 Which states that the power steering control module was not properly calibrated, causing the electronic brake control module to lose communication with it. Reprogram the PSCM. Condition is no longer present.” The problem reccurred while driving on September 30, 2022. Chevy dealership has been notified and the vehicle will be taken back in for further evaluation.

The contact stated that in order to remove the key she was required to turn off and restart the vehicle several times. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the failure did not occur while the vehicle was with the mechanic. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that while attempting to remove the key from the ignition, she had to continue to turn off and restart the vehicle and noticed she was unable to depress the brake pedal as well. The vehicle was taken to Premier Chevrolet of Seaside (4 Heitzinger Plaza, Seaside, CA 93955) and My Chevrolet (444 Auto Center Cir A, Salinas, CA 93907) on separate occasions for routine services; however, the failure did not occur so the mechanics were unable to give a diagnosis for the failure. The vehicle was later taken to Chevrolet of Watsonville (490 Auto Center Dr, Watsonville, CA 95076) for a failure with the vehicle idling however, the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, the contact stated that when she attempted to remove the key from the ignition, all the door locks engaged intermittently and would not unlock unless she was able to remove the key from the ignition. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

My steering lost power assist. Very hard to turn the steering wheel. I could not park my Colorado. I could only turn at higher speeds. I could drive fairly straight, but could not make any quick maneuvers. I would not have been able to avoid anything. The dealer said it would cost $2600 to fix it. Also the stabletrack icon came on. I felt very unsafe driving my Colorado. When I asked the service person what I should do because I couldn’t afford to fix it, he said “ park it and don’t drive it”. He was very rude. He wasn’t happy that I wouldn’t pay him $4250 for my steering issue and the display screen.
