The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that the tailgate opened unexpectedly. The contact stated that he had not left the tailgate partially secured and the failure was recurring. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the tailgate release switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
