I OWN A 2007 BIG DOG K9 THAT ORIGINALLY CAME WITH AN AVON VENOM 300/35R18 ON THE REAR. AVON HAS DISCONTINUED MAKING THE VENOM AND REPLACED IT WITH THE COBRA. I CALLED THE PEOPLE I BOUGHT THE TIRE FROM AND THEY PROMPTLY GOT ME A REPLACEMENT TIRE. MY ORIGINAL COBRA HAD A DATE CODE OF 4009. MY NEW COBRA HAS A DATE CODE OF 1111. *TT

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BIG DOG K-9. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED FROM SIXTH TO FOURTH GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FOUR OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NOW STARTED TO LEAK OIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,100.

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE REAR FENDER STRUT ATTACHING BOLTS CAN FAIL ALLOWING THE REAR FENDER TO DETACH FROM THE MOTORCYCLE.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: THIS COULD OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING AND COULD RESULT IN AN INJURY OR A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REMOVE EXISTING STRUT BOLTS AND REPLACE WITH HIGHER TENSILE STRENGTH ATTACHING BOLTS AND UPDATED WASHERS. HIGHER TORQUE VALUES WILL BE OBSERVED WHEN INSTALLING THE REPLACEMENT FASTENERS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 21, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BIG DOG AT 316-267-9121.
