Service Brakes

Truck was parked on a decline brakes engaged while driver of refuse vehicle serviced a cart. Driver heard what he thought was the pack blade cycle and the vehicle started rolling away. Fortunately, road leveled out and tipper attachment dragged on the ground slowing unit. No damage to anything other than attachment bar. driver…

Truck was parked on a decline brakes engaged while driver of refuse vehicle serviced a cart. Driver heard what he thought was the pack blade cycle and the vehicle started rolling away. Fortunately, road leveled out and tipper attachment dragged on the ground slowing unit. No damage to anything other than attachment bar. driver got to flat surface and called in for assistance. Upon inspection the unit was equipped with 30/30 chambers not the 30/36 that were specified for this unit. The shop replaced the rear chambers with 30/36, also replaced the slack adjusters and a new SR-11 valve. Unit has been tested and cannot replicate the issue. Also, have replaced the other seven (7) like units with 30/36 chambers in this fleet.

Service BrakesSteering

On initial in-service inspection the following issues were found. 1) R/S steering column not secured. Multiple screws loose. (picture attached) 2) Brake air system found to be out of compliance. When tested and air was released from one tank, both tanks drained completely. Lines are look to be plumbed incorrectly.

Battle Motors, Inc. (Battle Motors) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Let2 trucks. The steering wheel retaining nut may have been improperly tightened, allowing the steering wheel to loosen and detach from the steering shaft.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A loose or detached steering wheel can cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the repairs are completed. Dealers will inspect and tighten the steering wheel retaining nut as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 25, 2025. Owners may contact Battle Motors customer service at 1-877-546-2537.
