02/04/2025 after work I was driving on local street in rush hours, suddenly the display panel popped out the warning message: Steering: malfunction! Please stop vehicle. Then I found out the wheel couldn't turn right or left any more. I turned on the emergency light immediately and moved my vehicle close to curb pending tow truck. Luckily it was raining evening, traffic was slow at 15~20 MPH, this incident didn't cause crash or injury but blocking the traffic more then one hour for the tow truck. If it happened on highway, I couldn't imagine what the serious fatal accident would be... After the Audi tech inspected, it was the electrical steering failed / the internal control died out--a defective parts.

In the course of driving on [XXX] through a mountain pass in Colorado with snow and poor driving conditions, the steering mechanism on the vehicle failed resulting in not being able to maneuver the vehicle out of the lane or off the road safely. If this happened while other vehicles were in front/behind or to the side of us, or if this would have happened in another mountain road without emergency curbing/exits - we could have easily been killed. 3. The vehicle is at the Audi Denver dealership (had to be towed) and they confirmed the code "Steering: malfunction! Please stop vehicle" that displayed on the panel. 4. No, tried to call Audi but there was a 2 hour wait to talk to someone and even then, not sure I would have reached anyone that could have helped. 5. Warning message "Steering: malfunction! Please stop vehicle" displayed with red steering wheel icon and exclamation mark. No other warning or sign of failure. This is the problem, driving at highway speed, get a steering malfunction warning, can't steer or control the vehicle - have to stop "safely". This could have been catastrophic. In any other vehicle if rack/pinon slips or power steering fluid fails, you can still manage to steer and avoid collision, this Audi under these conditions gave no such option. MY SON DRIVING AT LOW SPEED COULD NOT MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE TO AVOID HITTING THE GUARD RAIL COMING OFF A HIGHWAY. IT WAS LIKE HE HYDROPLANED WITHOUT A PUDDLE IN EXISTENCE.

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES APPEARED IN A ROTATING SEQUENCE (1) SAFETY SYSTEM MALFUNCTION (2) TIRE PRESSURE MALFUNCTION (3) TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION (4) DRIVE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION (5) ADAPTIVE LIGHT MALFUNCTION (6) BRAKES MALFUNCTION - STOP VEHICLE SAFELY (7) AUDI PRE SENSE CURRENTLY LIMITED (8) STABILIZATION CONTROL ESC MALFUNCTION. IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING FOR 5-10 SECONDS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE AT LOW SPEED. THE MESSAGES APPEARED FIRST WHILE STATIONARY, BUT CONTINUED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EACH TIME, OVER THE COURSE OF 24 HOURS, THE WARNINGS LIGHTS AND MESSAGES WENT BACK TO NORMAL.

THIS RESULTS IN MORE EFFORT TO EFFECTIVELY STEER THE VEHICLE. AUDI OF BEAVERTON OR WHERE THE 2019 Q7 WAS PURCHASED NEW HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX TWICE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS AT A COMPLETE STOP, AND I'M ATTEMPTING TO START MOVING AGAIN. I'VE LEARNED TO PUT THE CAR INTO "SPORT MODE" SO I DON'T RISK MY LIFE AND MY FAMILIES LIVES. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Audi Q7 vehicles. The padding on the vehicle's C-pillar may not absorb enough impact in the event of a crash.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: In the event of a crash, an unbelted occupant's head may impact the vehicle's C-pillar padding, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the deformation element on the C-pillars, free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2020. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 70H8.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2019 Audi Q8 and 2017-2019 Audi Q7 vehicles. The bolt connecting the steering shaft to the steering gear may loosen, possibly resulting in a loss of steering control.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A sudden loss of loss of steering control may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and Audi dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering shaft bolt, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 31, 2020. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 36A1.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2019 Audi Q7 vehicles. In the event of a crash, the side curtain air bags may not properly inflate.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An air bag that does not properly inflate in the event of a crash can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the side curtain air bags, free of charge. The recall began March 19, 2020. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69AJ.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2019 Q7, Q8, S5 Cabriolet, and S5 Sportback vehicles. The front shock absorber forks may develop cracks allowing the shock absorbers to loosen.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Loose shock absorbers may impair vehicle steering, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy: Audi has notified owners, and dealers will replace the shock absorber forks, free of charge. The recall began March 18, 2019. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 40O4.
