RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM A-ARM DUE TO THE PINCH BOLT THREADS WEARING. CATASTROPHIC INJURY TO RIDERS OCCURRED. BALL JOINTS ON THIS MODEL (AND MANY OTHERS BY AC, KAWASAKI, ETC), ARE SECURED TO THE A-ARM WITH A PINCH BOLT. OEM FOR THE BOLT WAS A FULLY THREADED CAP SCREW. THE THREADS CAN WEAR, THUS NOT ENGAGING WITH THE GROVE IN THE SPINDLE OF THE BALL JOINT. EVEN WITH THE CAP SCREW IN PLACE AND PROPERLY TORQUED, THE BALL JOINT CAN SEPARATE AND LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL. IN THIS CASE, BALL JOINT SEPARATED, DRIVER LOST CONTROL, ROLLED, AND SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC INJURY. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.
