2020 Acura Rdx

The back window completely shattered, with shards of glass falling both in and out of the car. It is a known defect. It happened completely out of the blue. I don't understand why this isn't a recall. I also don't understand why I had to pay for a know defect. I'm grateful I was not on the highway when it happened. I was on my street but it was in a downpour.

The contact owns a 2020 Acura RDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The rear windshield of my car shattered by itself. The car had pieces of glass everywhere in the back. Acura is aware of an issue with this windshield in models RDX from 2019 to 2023. They sent a Technical Service Report (TSB 22-014) to their dealers asking to replace the windshield on these cases. We took the car to the dealer for inspection, and they took pictures showing that the car did not have any damage that could have created the problem, but they claim that Acura refuses to cover the repair anyways.

The car was just purchased Turning left going about 5 to 10mph in a 25 mph zone it hit the brakes. Then about 100 yrds later at a stop light, the car was turning left with traffic going onto a 45mph road. It slammed on the brakes, saying "brake", on the Display, causing whiplash, and almost a major accident. After calling Acura, they mentioned these driver assistance systems were tied into cruise control. When the car was tested on the highway a couple days before and used cruise control, the collision and another warning system were faulty. It said "sensor is covered or..." I do not remember the 2nd part. They specifically said if these systems are problematic with warning lights, you should not use cruise control. These cars should not be on the road. No shortage of people complaining about this online.

The rear glass has shattered twice in February. First time January 2022 and second time February 2025. The vehicle has been parked when this incidentoccurred. Both occasions has been un winter conditions temperatures. As one can imagine, a shattered rear window isn’t just a minor inconvenience. The rear windshield is crucial for protecting passengers from outside elements and potential hazards during a drive. The first incident was handled by my auto insurance and a rework by the dealer at my cost The second incident Acura covered 75% of the cost while I was held responsible for the remaining 25% No warning were present prior to incident

Rear windows broken by itself. No known cause while driving. I heard a bang but didnt realize at first what it was until I pulled over and looked at the car. I had it replaced at safelite. Waited 2 weeks. There is glass in my tailgate which is impossible to remove. Did not know others had this issue as well until recently saw it online. Honda needs to address this issue.
