The rear window on the hatch shattered without any trauma to the glass. It was completely unexpected and there was immediately a hole in my rear window. There were no obvious defects in the glass and again, no trauma to the window prior to it shattering. The car was parked in the garage when it happened.

Shattered back windshield is common but not recalled. Also another issue I am having is a Jammed seatbelt. Acura currently told me my windshield is not covered because it’s a Canadian car. Wondering if my seatbelt issue will be resolved or not too because it’s also a Canadian car..

Car was parked in parking lot and was not moved. When I returned to my car after working I got in and looked out my rearview mirror as I was about to put car in reverse to notice that my rear window did not look right. After getting out of the car to investigate, it was found that my rear window had been completely shattered. The window had no obvious area of impact, as if something had accidentally hit it or as if someone were trying to break in. It appeared to have self-shattered. This was also confirmed with police report filing. I was also told that the only reason my window still remained in place (even shattered) was because I had a tint film over it.

The rear windshield spontaneously cracked. There was nothing wrong with the vehicle and no physical damage was done. The car was started with remote start and the rear windshield defroster turned out. After approaching the vehicle and opening the trunk, pieces of the window began to fall as it was shattered. Small vibrations made the window continue to crumble until nothing was left in the back. This has been reported to Acura who will not cover the issue even though there is a service Bulletin 22-014 stating there is a defect. Acura has stated the vehicle is not covered even though the issue is for all VINs.

I discovered the rear lift gate glass of my vehicle to be shattered while parked inside of my garage. There was no known external contact that impacted the glass. There is glass remaining inside of the door itself after the glass was replaced by Acura. This is an issue that is widespread on this model vehicle.

Component or System Failed: Rear liftgate glass (rear window) shattered unexpectedly. The glass is available for inspection upon request. Description of Incident: Vehicle is a 2019 Acura RDX located in Massachusetts. I started the car from my remote. While the vehicle was parked, I closed the driver-side door and the rear liftgate glass immediately shattered without impact. There were no prior cracks, chips, or visible damage to the glass. The shattering appeared spontaneous and was not caused by an object strike. Safety Risk: The sudden shattering of the rear glass created a safety hazard due to flying glass fragments inside and around the vehicle. If this had occurred while driving, it could have caused driver distraction, loss of visibility, or potential injury to occupants or nearby individuals. The failure appears to be spontaneous and without warning, which raises safety concerns. Problem Reproduced or Confirmed: UNKNOWN. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer at the time of this report. However, similar incidents involving 2019 Acura RDX rear glass shattering have been widely reported by other owners. Inspections Conducted: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer. Insurance will be inspecting the damage as part of a comprehensive glass claim. No police report was filed as there was no collision or vandalism suspected. Warning Lamps or Prior Symptoms: No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms appeared prior to the failure. There were no visible cracks or damage before the glass shattered. Additional Notes: The failure occurred immediately after closing the driver-side door. No rear defroster warning or malfunction was observed prior to the incident.
