2022 Volkswagen Taos

The rearview camera on our new Volkswagon TAOS does not work. We leased the TAOS on 12/27/21 and the rearview camera malfunctioned for a short time and then completely stopped working soon after. We took it to dealership twice and called Volkswagon several times but were told they do not have the part to fix it. We have two toddlers at home and neighbor children regularly play at our home. We are very concerned about safety of the vehicle, but it is our only vehicle. We are aware of Part 573 Safety Recall Report 20V-716 concerning a similar defect being non-compliant with FMVSS 111 on “Rear Visibility.” We emphasize that the rearview camera on our new vehicle does not work at all, despite FMVSS 111.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated when she exited the highway at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle completely stalled in the middle of the road. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact repeatedly pressed the Auto START/STOP button; however, the vehicle failed to start. The contact then used her keys to manually start the vehicle and drove safely home. The vehicle was taken the dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.

EPC, AUTO/SWITCH OFF ERROR, LANE CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE AND YELLOW TRIANGLE EXCLAMATION MARK LIGHT ARE ALL ON AGAIN - 4th time same issue, the engine was about to stall on me and luckily I was close to my house. Additionally there was the issue with a part recalled related with the fuel. The car was shaking when hitting the gas and seemed like engine was about to give out. This car is not safe to drive and I’m reporting this safety issue with NHTSA due to many previous recalls on this model and will be applying for lemon law on Monday. There is a history of recalls with this model and I no longer feel safe. Unacceptable I have leased this car for six months and 4th time I’m having issues. I already had to stay with a rental car twice all together while they “repair” the issue and reassure me the car is safe. I rely on my car for work and I’m always on the highway. Today I had my entire family in the car and the engine almost gave up on me in the middle of of major busy road

This car has a dangerous delayed acceleration problem. While making a left hand turn the car DID NOT apply the correct amount of acceleration proportional to the pressure applied to the gas pedal. It got to the point where I was basically flooring the gas pedal AND THE CAR DID NOT CHANGE SPEED! Because the car would not accelerate I almost got hit. After the turn a delayed surge of speed made the car jerk/lunge in an dangerous manner. If I didn't have a firm grip on the steering wheel I would have lost control of the car. I'm terrified driving this car in heavy traffic conditions. Volkswagen needs to fix this before someone has an accident and dies.

The infotainment system on this vehicle does not always turn on when the vehicle is started and has stayed off for long durations of time from 2 minutes to an entire day of driving. This means the backup camera does not function nor does Bluetooth. I have brought it back to the dealership multiple times only to be told it just needs a software update. Most recently I had it serviced Feb 17th 2022 for a software update and the issue is still on going. I drove for 20 minutes without the infotainment system turning on.

I bought my new car June 2021.Model 2022 Volkswagen TAOS [XXX]. In a new car, every 1500 miles a light comes on to check the engine. I have already been in maintenance twice, and today the light came on again to check the motor. I'm tired of driving with a new car to the service. My car has only done 4,300 miles and this is the third time I have to go to fix it. When the light comes on, check the engine, the car starts to slow down and a loud sound is heard, they can’t fix it for me. 2022 VOLKSWAGEN TAOS SEL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWERTRAIN ISSUES. THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER TRAIN HAD A VIOLENT JERK. THE JERK CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS HEAD TO SLAM AGAINST THE HEADRESTS. WHILE DRIVING THE DASHBOARD'S WILL INDEPENDLY SWITCH BETWEEN SCEENS. THE DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO USE THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, THE SOFTWARE WIPED OUT THE 1/4 OF THE DASHBOARD'S CRITICAL DRVING DATA, THE DISPLAY WOULD FREEZE OR REBOOT WHILE DRIVING. THE DISPLAY SHOWS DISTRACTING MESSAGES. ALSO, THE WIRELESS CHARGING PAD CAN CAUSE DEVICES TO BECOME EXTREMELY HOT. THE REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WERE UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE. THE LANE WATCH AND AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BAKING SYSTEM TRIGGERED UNNECESSARILY.

MIB infotainment system blanks out, simultaneously sending error code to driver center console rendering it useless. Key functions are therefore inoperable or inaccessible, including (but not limited to) TPMS monitoring / alert warning, rear view camera display, and potentially a host of other safety and advanced driver assist functions.

Periodically the MIB infotainment screen blacks out; this in turn places a warning error in the driver center console screen. While this occurs, nothing else can be accessed or displayed in the center console screen. This creates a potentially dangerous situation as it can lead to confusion on a variety of things (example: Is cruise control still engaged?). It can also deprive the driver of key safety information (example: If one or more tires experiences a loss of pressure, the driver will not be warned). Furthermore, if the driver is reliant on Navigation and is driving under stressful and adverse weather conditions, this could create panic and result in a collision. VW has no fix for the issue currently and is releasing the vehicle back to me, even though I have stated my safety concerns.
