The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 70 MPH, the automotive power was reduced and a "Power failure get to nearest dealer" warning message illuminated. The contact was able to pull over onto the side of the road, idled, and then attempted to restart. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact mentioned that the failure had occurred on three separate occasions. The approximate failure mileage was 19,800.

When coming to a stop, then pressing on the gas, the truck does not move. Its a dead gas pedal for approximately 2-4 seconds and then the truck takes off. Say i am trying to turn right at a light, then go to press on the gas, there is hesitation from the truck. I have brought this issue several times since i got the truck, a TSB from toyota was performed but the problem consistently persists. It does not happen everytime when coming from a stop but it is noticeable. Its a safety concern due to possibly being hit on the side when trying to merge into traffic.

I knew this was coming but I'm stunned by this notice and that NHTSA lets Toyota get away with this. Note the bolded warning in the attached notice. Sounds pretty serious and potentially catastrophic. I called the dealer on January 4th. I'm the third one to call into this dealership for this recall. They have no ETA on the replacement engine. So, I guess I should just continue to drive the truck and hope the engine doesn't seize while I'm going down the freeway? Wouldn't it make sense for NHTSA to direct Toyota to provide "us" with a loaner until the vehicle is repaired? Toyota and NHTSA may incur huge liability costs even if only one truck crashes because of this serious failure in workmanship. Every time I use the truck my "safety or the safety of others is put at risk." No kicking the can down the road NHTSA! Toyota screwed up BIG TIME! NHTSA needs to step up and protect consumers before something happens (again?).

When stopped at a traffic light waiting to make a left turn, I accelerated to start the turn. The truck moved forward slightly and stopped. All throttle response was gone and I was not able to move from the intersection and oncoming traffic. About 4 seconds later the throttle response returned and it drove normally. I was almost hit by an oncoming car for being stopped in the road. This occurs frequently at stop signs when I stop and go to accelerate. It is dangerous to not know if the truck will respond or not while turning in traffic.

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH, the engine was making an abnormal knocking sound. The low-pressure warning light illuminated with a message to turn off the engine displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The dealer informed the contact that failure might be related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, after reaching out to the manufacturer, the manufacturer denied coverage under the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called a local dealer, Mitchell Toyota (1500 Knickerbocker Rd, San Angelo, TX 76904); who had the vehicle towed to the location. The second dealer informed the contact that there was a 2 to 3-month wait for a replacement engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,500.

Vehicle has throttle lag when pushing the accelerator. Multiple times since owning vehicle, when pushing the accelerator pedal the engine/vehical doesn’t accelerate. This normally is from a complete stop situation. I have never seen any dashboard warning lights regaurding this issue. This has created on more than a handful of occasions myself and other occupants to be put in danger. I have not had a dealer look at this issue nor have any other agencies been involved. I do believe Toyota is aware of this but have not taken my vehical in for them to look at it.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra, Lexus LX, and 2024 Lexus GX vehicles equipped with a V35A engine. Debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will perform an inspection on the #1 main bearing using vehicle inspection software and drive data, and if necessary, replace the engine. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed August 28, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB14 and 25TA14. A software error may cause the rearview image not to display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the multimedia display software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 19, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB10 and 25TA10.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Reverse light failure may reduce visibility, and not alert pedestrians and other drivers that the vehicle is backing up, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace both reverse light assemblies and repair the wire harnesses as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 23, 2026. This is a phased recall. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles that may be equipped with a Toyota genuine accessory tonneau cover. The tonneau cover attachment joints may come loose and allow the cover to detach.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A tonneau cover that detaches while driving can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer. Dealer will install new hardware (bolts, spacers, washers, nuts, rubber washers and cotter pins) to the existing bracket and tonneau cover. If the tonneau cover has tears or splits at the mounting holes to the extent that new hardware cannot be installed, it will be replaced with a new tonneau cover and hardware. The Skid Control ECU within the Brake Actuator Assembly may falsely detect an overcurrent condition of the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Actuator and enter a failsafe mode which prevents the EPB from being engaged. Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles. The flange nuts on the axle shaft sub-assemblies can loosen over time and potentially cause one or both axle shaft sub-assemblies to separate from the axle housing.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Axle shaft separation can cause a loss of vehicle stability and brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
