I was driving during the rain with the wipers on (intermittent) and the auto start/stop feature engaged. I got to a red light and stopped. I lifted my foot off the brake to press the accelerator and then the car didn't restart. The instrument panel then said low steering power and another message about the brake. A loud tone was continuously emitted. I pressed the brake and put the car in park and was able to restart it. I was scared because traffic behind me was honking for me to proceed and I was not able to at first.

This is a recurring problem since buying the vehicle new... now at ~7,500 miles. Problem occurs on state highways (North Carolina country roads). While Lane Tracing Assist is active at 45 mph - 60 mph, the Lane Tracing Assist works fine and as expected on large radius state highway curves, but when it comes to smaller radius curves, the Lane Tracing Assist takes the turn in an overly aggressive manner. It wants to cross the median on curves to the left, and it wants to run off the road on curves to the right. The lane departure warning sounds in both instances, so the car recognizes it is departing the lane. I am able to maintain control to keep the car generally in its lane, but I have to actively and physically fight the steering system to do so.
When the headlights are on Low, not High beam, there is a dark horizontal and vertical streak (shadow) in the illuminated area in front of the vehicle. When the headlights are on Low, not High beam, there is a dark horizontal and vertical streak (shadow) in the illuminated area in front of the vehicle. The dark area looks like an L turned on it's side to the right. It is the same for both right and left headlights. This shadow area prevents full illumination of the roadway ahead of the vehicle. This also is a distraction and causes the driver's eyes to drift to the dark areas and further degrades nighttime driving safety. Per Toyota Corolla Cross Forum, this problem is across the board for the Cross vehicle, not just mine. When the lights are on Low and you hold a paper in front of either light, the dark streak is easily seen.

I was at a red light on a busy highway. All of a sudden my car stopped working: I got a message on the dashboard along the lines of "engine power low" and "press brake hard to restart". But even if I pressed the brake hard, nothing would happen, and my car wouldn't move forward. In fact, because I was on a slight uphill, releasing the brake pedal made my car go backwards. The steering wheel also felt locked. I was panicked because the light turned green and a lot of cars were waiting behind me. I put my hazard lights on, and kept trying to press the brake hard to no avail. Finally after about a minute, I put my car in park, and turned off my car. I then restarted it, and it suddenly worked. This was a super scary experience, and very disappointing since my car is new as of two months ago.
Roof racks are secured with double sided tape. Tape on both racks failed causing both racks to become up secured from roof of vehicle.
The car turned off several times while I was stuck in traffic, it was raining an the wipers were on. This happened on Riverside Drive, NYC on 9/8/23 around 5 pm. The warning said: low steering power. There were cars behind me and could have crashed my car.

When I finally found one through a dealership then I got no 1 recall and later no2 recall.I have not been able to drive it much as safety issues and it has been sitting for weeks. First why was Toyota allowed to go through Takata for the parts when years ago they were in a prior recall with this manufacturer and Takata filed for bankruptcy then. Now this is the largest recall in this recall history and we, the customers of new cars, are in a mess. I bought an extended warranty which is no good since my car is sitting, they have the 2022 Cross SUV on this recall also-why was it not taken care of before we bought new 2023 vehicles??I waited years to replace my totaled car due to no cars (new) on lots and I had many injuries and the person who hit me had nothing to even pay off my bill for injuries-just a little insurance his mother had taken out.Had I known about the problem I would have found another new SUV.Why is there no one not allowing Toyota to use this manufacturer AGAIN so we do not have to go through all this. I have been through enough physically and still have medical problems and have to go to medical facilities 5-6 hours away for problems and planned on using my Cross and have 5 upcoming trips in the weeks ahead of me. I hope there can be some changes so this never happens again to new car buyers-it also has affected my car's value. I am so disappointed and mad in the whole situation. Thank you for your time. I ordered the car in July and it arrived on 8/3/23. On 8/31/23, I got in the car while in my garage, attempted to start it as usual, and a loud sound occurred when I shifted from park to reverse. Lights began flashing. I turned off the car, got out and walked around to make sure I hadn’t hit anything. After verifying clearance all around, I checked my phone. The Toyota Corolla Cross XLE had 4 codes listed: malfunctions of: electronic control of engine, AWD system, drive-start control system, and the advanced ultrasonic detecting and ranging system. I restarted the car and backed out of my garage. The check engine light was still on. I backed out and tried to drive down my neighborhood street. When I steeped in the accelerator, the engine would race but not engage. Acceleration was problematic so I returned home. Later the same day, I had it towed into a local Toyota service center. After several days, they said it was “just a glitch”. They reset it and have not been able to get the codes to recur.

Purchase car 8/28 ( brand new 8 miles in it) drove it 1 time 9/1. On 9/3 the car would not start. Giving message key not detected although key was in dash. Then it said push break portal and touch engine switch with key. Still did not start. Today 9/4 same thing. Dealership Manager and technician came to my home (outstanding service ). I discovered it was not turn battery that the key was not being recognized. They said they have not had the problem with their cars but have heard about it worth this car from other dealerships. There is No fox as of yet.
