Excessive oil consumption, I was not sent a recall notice on excessive oil consumption of my 2009 Toyota Camry that I purchased on 9/30/2009. Excessive oil consumption relates to the manufacturer defect of the 2009 and other model cars. The pistons and motor did not fit correctly which is causing excessive oil consumption along with other problems that relate to it. I bought my car in 2009, the problem was discovered between 2008-2015. I was not sent a recall notice so I could have brought my car in to fix it. The problem does not show up until the warranty expires or 60,000 later. I was not sent a recall because my car was new and it would be years before the problem starts to happen. I should have been notified regardless. I take good care of my car's maintenance. When I found out about the recall about 2 years ago from google the internet and I saw the class action lawsuits that was field. I still was not notified about the recalls. Now the problem is happening. Please help me I can not afford another car. Everyone should have been notified about the recall.

Bob Tyler Toyota sold me a 2009 Toyota Camry when they knew that the 2009 Camrys had an oil consumption problem. I learned of a class action lawsuit that was filed against Toyota regarding this problem. Toyota announced a program to extend warranty coverage to address customer complaints of Excessive Engine Oil Consumption on certain 2007-2009 Camrys. Toyota was supposed to replace parts on the affected Toyota Camrys for vehicles exhibiting excessive engine oil consumption. Eligibility for part replacement under this warranty enhancement Program is dependent on a Toyota dealer engine oil consumption test in accordance with T-SB-0158-14(Toyota) and S-SB-0031-14(Scion). I took my Toyota Camry to Bob Tyler for routine maintenance/oil changes and other maintenance. I noticed that my Toyota was burning a quart of oil every few hundred miles. I took my Camry to Bob Tyler Toyota and they did the oil consumption test and stated that my car narrowly passed so it did not qualify to be fixed. Since my Camry has gotten worse. My Camry only has 108,000 miles on it which is less than the cutoff mileage that Toyota has set for oil consumption problems. I took my Toyota back to Bob Tyler this year and was advised that my Camry is over the age limit for the Oil Consumption problem. I met with Bob Tyler and advised him of the problem that I was having with my 2009 Toyota Camry. I advised that my Camry has been burning oil and that the maintenance department never brought it to my attention before the age of my Camry exceeded the warranty cutoff. Bob Tyler said it was not his problem. Bob Tyler Toyota never made it clear when the cutoff age/mileage for a car to be covered started and ended. Bob Tyler now refuses to do repairs on my Camry and it is getting worse. Bob Tyler knows that this oil problem is hazardous to the driver and passengers. I would like to have my Camry repaired or receive refund in amount of repair cost so I can have it repaired at a different Toyota Dealership.

I HAVE BEEN THE SOLE OWNER OF THIS CAMRY. BACK IN 2015 I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND BROUGHT UP TO THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS STICKY. AT THE TIME THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO ABOUT IT AND REPLACING IT WOULD COST ME A LOT OF MONEY. NOW 4 YEARS LATER I FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT THAT COVERED THE DASHBOARD. MY DASHBOARD IS NOW SO STICKY THAT IT IS GLISTENING. I TRIED TO USE A SUN VISOR HOPING IT WOULD SLOW THE RATE OF MELTING BUT THEN MY SUN VISOR WOULD STICK TO THE DASHBOARD. I PLACE A HAT ON THE DASHBOARD ONCE FOR 10 MINUTES AND WHEN I REMOVED IT THERE WAS BLACK RESIDUE. FINALLY, I HAVE A CHILD NOW AND WHEN HE GETS INTO THE CAR HE HAS PUT HIS HANDS ON THE DASHBOARD AND GOTTEN THE BLACK DEBRIS AND CHEMICALS ON HIS HANDS AND I AM NOW CONCERNED FOR HIS HEALTH AND SAFETY. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL: OVER THE LAST YEAR I NOTICED MY OIL CONSUMPTION WAS DRASTICALLY INCREASING. I STARTED BURNING THROUGH OIL AND HAVING TO ADD A QUART EVERY 2 MONTHS AND NOW MONTHLY. IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS, A VERY LARGE PLUME OF WHITE SMOKE WOULD SPEW OUT OF MY TAIL PIPES; NOT JUST A LITTLE BUT A LARGE CLOUD OF SMOKE. IT HAS A VERY BURNT SMELL TO IT TOO. THE SMOKE DISSIPATES AFTER THE CAR WARMS AND AS LONG AS THE CAR IS WARM, IT WILL NOT SMOKE. IT ONLY SMOKE WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN OFF FOR OVER 2-3 HOURS. I WAS TOLD BY A CERTIFIED TOYOTA MECHANIC THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE DUE TO FAULTY INTERNAL PARTS. HE STATED IT WAS THE REASON FOR SUCH A HIGH LEVEL OF OIL CONSUMPTION. I DISCOVERED THAT TOYOTA IS CURRENTLY RECALLING CERTAIN ENGINE BLOCKS DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION DEFECTS, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL AS OF NOW. ACCORDING TO TOYOTA, MY VIN COULD EVENTUALLY BECOME PART OF THE RECALL (OIL CONSUMPTION RECALL) BUT AS OF NOW, IT IS NOT. Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the front passenger seat occupant sensing system is out of calibration, the front passenger airbags may not deploy or they may deploy inappropriately for the passenger's size and position. This could increase the risk of personal injury during the event of a vehicle crash necessitating airbag deployment.

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.

Remedy: Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED.
