DRIVING MY 2019 SUBARU, CROSSTREK IN THE #1 LANE WESTBOUND ON THE 118 FREEWAY UTILIZING MY EYESIGHT DRIVERS ASSIST AND CRUISE SET AT 65 MPH, INTO MY OFFICE ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11, 2020 @ 5:30 AM. IT WAS LIGHTLY RAINING AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ON. PRIOR TO PASSING THE TAMPA OFFRAMP, I THOUGHT I HEARD A "PING" ON MY WINDSHIELD. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY OFFICE, I INSPECTED MY WINDSHIELD AND COULD NOT LOCATE ANY DAMAGE. THE RAIN CONTINUED ALL DAY AND WHEN I GOT INTO MY CAR @ 2:30 PM, I SAW THAT MY WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED HORIZONTALLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT 7" LONG, 6 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM WHERE THE WINDSHIELD IS MOUNTED. I CHECKED WITH SUBARU ABOUT THE GOLD EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED TO SEE IF IT COVERED THE REPLACEMENT AS WELL AS INQUIRE IF MY REGULAR WARRANTY WOULD COVER REPLACEMENT SINCE I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR FOR EVEN 2 YEARS YET. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT COVERED AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW SUBARU WINDSHIELD FOR ABOUT $950.00 PLUS THE RE-CALIBRATION CHARGES OF THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS ANOTHER $200.00. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE THAT A WINDSHIELD WOULD CRACK THAT EASILY AND NOT BE SUPPORTED BY SUBARU SINCE THE CAR IS STILL RELATIVELY NEW. AFTER A FEW WEEKS AND ~400 MILES ON MY CAR, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SOMETHING SMALL HIT MY WINDSHIELD. NOTHING SHOWED UNTIL A FEW HOURS LATER WHEN A CRACK ABOUT 2 FEET LONG SHOWED. AT THE TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS A LITTLE ODD THAT SOMETHING SO SMALL COULD HAVE CREATED SUCH A LARGE CRACK. THEN I READ AN ARTICLE ONLINE AND FOUND OUT A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAD THE SAME ISSUE, SO I WANTED TO SHARE MY INFO IN CASE IT SUPPORTS A TREND. I ASKED SUBARU WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $2500 TO FIX WHICH I FOUND ABSURD.
PREMATURE CRACKING OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE DRIVER'S FIELD OF VISION. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65-70MPH) ON I-80, WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35F. OVER THE NEXT TWO MONTHS, THE CRACK LENGTHENED FROM ~2IN TO OVER 12IN.
MY WINDSHIELD BEGIN CRACKING FROM THE LOWER LEFT CORNER ON THE DRIVER SIDE WITHOUT ANY CARS OR TRUCKS ANYWHERE AROUND ME TO KICK UP THE STONE. THERE IS NOW ABOUT A 10 INCH CRACK GOING IN A NORTH EASTERLY DIRECTION LOOKING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE
DRIVING ON ROAD WHEN WINDSHIELD HIT BY SMALL ROCK (HARDLY MADE A NOISE WHEN HIT) AND WINDSHIELD CRACKED. PURCHASED CAR APRIL 2019 AND CRACK HAPPENED LATE JUNE, 2019. PREVIOUSLY HAD A FORRESTER AND AND SEVERAL ROCKS WHICH HIT WINDSHIELD VERY HARD WITH NO CRACKING. CONCLUDED WINDSHIELD WAS POOR QUALITY OR DEFECTIVE.

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Subaru Crosstrek, 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid, and 2019 Forester vehicles. The rear stabilizer bracket bolts may loosen and detach.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Missing bolts may allow the rear stabilizer bracket to shift, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will retorque and replace any missing bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2021. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WRD-21.

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2019 Crosstrek vehicles with rear seat belt assemblies with a dual-mode locking mechanism. The seat belt webbing sensor locking mechanism may not lock as intended.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: In the event of a crash involving multiple impacts, the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.

Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2019 Crosstrek, Forester, and Ascent vehicles. The aluminum Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve can separate, allowing the separated components to enter the engine, resulting in a loss of power while driving.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An unexpected loss of power while driving can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the PCV valve, free of charge. If the PCV valve has separated and the components cannot be found, the short block engine will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began January 31, 2020. Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2019 Forester and Crosstrek vehicles. A connector inside the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) unit may short circuit resulting in a loss of electric power steering assistance.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Loss of power steering assist would require higher steering effort, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: None of the affected vehicles have been sold yet. Subaru has notified dealers and they will inspect the steering gearbox, replacing it as necessary, free of charge.
