On Thursday 16NOV2024 I noticed the rear sliding window on my 20' Ram had shattered on the drivers side section. The sticker on the back was damaged and appeared burnt. The weather that morning had been 35 degrees and partly cloudy. When I remote started the vehicle at 0700HRS, the rear defrost came on automatically. I drove about 10-15 minutes to work and parked. I returned to my vehicle approximately 10 minutes later and noticed a burning odor but thought it was due to a woodstove used nearby. Later in the day coworkers noticed the sticker was burned. I thought it may be intentional or due to the rear defrost system since the part that is wired and transitions to the heating grid is right under the sticker. We reviewed security footage from when I parked to when it was discovered and noone went near the vehicle. I suspected the defroster had an issue. I stopped at the dealer, my warranty was expired and I have glass coverage but I wanted to make them aware of the issue. The dealer glass rep took photos and said she'd never seen anything like it but would talk to engineers about it. The following day I received a call saying that she showed engineers the damage and was told that the system doesn't have enough voltage or heat to cause that damage and they wouldn't help. I wasn't looking for money, I have full glass/no deductible. I had the glass replaced the following Monday and asked them to save the parts I suspected of failing. I have photos of the part that appears to have failed and overheated causing the damage. I have a concern that worst case, if something had been behind the headrest up against it and the vehicle was in a structure that a fire could have occurred. I followed up with my photos and concerns but never heard back from the dealer. Noone has expressed an interest in seeing the failed part in question and I still have them in my posssesion.

The bolts holding the muffler to the exhaust pipe sheered off. After speaking with multiple dealers it is a known problem using a smaller bolt in the new body model Ram 1500 DT. The smaller bolt can’t handle the heating/cooling and eventually snaps. But this generally occurs just outside of warranty time. With the undersized bolts used by the manufacturer this causes the exhaust pipe to hang freely and risks the potential to cause injury or death with parts falling. There are many cases like this at dealers across the country and more to come. This body model is just coming up on 3-4 years so more trucks are starting to come in with this issue.

The driver side sun visor hinge point is failing. Without warning either when I attempt to fold down the sun visor or sometimes just on it's own it has fallen down out of the roof from the hinge point on the left side that allows you to rotate it to the side window if necessary. If I didn't have my hand on it to immediately lift it back up and from blocking my vision of the road in front of me it could have caused a collision with another vehicle, pedestrian or other object. I can push it back up into the receiver hole in the roof but it remains loose with the potential to fall out again as it has on several occasions. It has not been inspected yet. There are no warning indicators for this problem.

The rear window, window seal, or related components have failed and allow water to intrude into the cabin of my vehicle near the back. This water gets the headliner wet and drips down the interior of the rear window, down the rear of the passenger compartment. This water intrusion occurs with very, very light moisture on the vehicle, such as early mornings with morning dew, light rain, or watching the vehicle. The near-daily (due to dew) intrusion of water into the cabin of my vehicle raises safety concerns of mold & mildew in the passenger compartment. My rear window backlite frame is visibly cracked on the interior, matching the symptom pictured in TSB [XXX]. My vehicle has a manufacturer date within the dates noted in the TSB. My vehicle also includes a power sliding window as noted in the TSB. I've been to two dealerships and they both told me they see this problem in RAM trucks "all the time". Both dealers refused to perform a warranty repair under the extended warranty noted in the TSB (150,000 miles) because my VIN is not associated with the TSB in FCA's system even though my vehicle appears to be described as a vehicle affected. I've attached 2 photos to my report. One photo showing the crack as noted in TSB [XXX]. One photo showing the actual crack in my backlite frame. This appears to be a very prevalent issue with a lot of online discussion from many other affected RAM owners. Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ORC or replace it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 20, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's numbers for this recall are V61 and V71.

EA23001 · High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure

Opened Mar 17, 2023 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Fuel System, Diesel:delivery:fuel Pump

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface. Additional work will be done to identify whether a similar root cause is associated with the FCA recalled population and if similar wear dynamics occur on pumps supplied to vehicle manufacturers other than those included in the recalled population.ODI has upgraded this investigation to an EA in order to 1) determine engineering specifications of internal pump components that are correlated with pump failure leading to loss of motive power or other safety related hazards, 2) identify vehicle populations equipped with alleged defective pump variants, 3) assess if vehicles equipped with alleged defective pump variants result in an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety and 4) gather and review any other relevant information related to high pressure fuel pump failure associated with the subject populations of recalls 21V586, 21V880, 21E094, 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087.Review of the above information will allow NHTSA to confirm root cause and recall remedy viability, and identify and evaluate vehicle populations equipped with pump components that may pose an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID using the following complaint identification numbers: 11257550, 11351441, 11361603, 11361616, 11365300, 11365426, 11365858, 11366401, 11372337, 11373793, 11374797, 11376793, 11377871, 11378173, 11384377, 11386063, 11387018, 11399710, 11402550, 11415339, 11418868, 11418870, 11427075, 11434276, 11436807, 11437226, 11437249, 11437273, 11437292, 11437294, 11437394, 11437399, 11437403, 11437405, 11437423, 11437528, 11437565, 11437579, 11437580, 11437590, 11437679, 11437744, 11437781, 11437842, 11437993, 11438006, 11438008, 11438121, 11438138, 11438155, 11438392, 11438629, 11439359, 11439879, 11440397, 11443030, 11446542, 11448163, 11453556, 11458918, 11460558, 11469337
