The uconnect/multimedia system sporadically and unpredictably goes haywire while driving; changing vehicle settings, making noises, and rapidly switching screens or even dialing 911! This is distraction and a nuisance while driving which takes a drivers attention from where it should be. Please investigate as I've heard it is a widespread problem with the 4C NAV system.

I choose "other" because you don't have their uconnect system listed as an option. I few years ago the radio began channel channels randomly every once in a while. This would usually stop once the vehicle was shut off and then restarted. It was so infrequent that it wasn't that big a deal. Then it started happening more frequently and I went online to the Ram forums and found that tons of people were reporting the same issue. I found out from these forums that the touch screen was delaminating. Sure enough, I could see that on my screen at the top. I had seen it before but I just thought it was a cosmetic flaw and I didn't connect it to the random radio changing. That delamination is now half way down my screen. If it was just the radio changing channels I wouldn't be contacting you. However, during the past 2 weeks the uconnect system is randomly showing my back up camera, turning my heated seats on, and randomly calling people listed in my phone contacts. More troubling is that it has called 911 on five different occasions. I have been able to cancel 2 of them, but the other 3 would not cancel even when I hit the cancel button on the screen. This is the safety issue.....my attention is being taken away from driving and trying to stop 911 calls from being randomly made. I have found no option to disable the uconnect system so I have to deal with this every time I am driving now. The vehicle has less than 50,000 miles on it. If this was a unique situation I would accept that I am out of warranty and need to fix this myself, but this is not unique. This exact same problem is happening on a ton of Ram vehicles and the manufacturer needs to step up and fix a flaw in this component. I have been in touch with Chrysler for the past week and they told me they will reach out to me on May 14th and let me know what they can do. I believe your agency should step in and require a recall for all affected owners.

I bought this Dodge truck in 2018 from a certified Dodge Dealership in California. On March [XXX] this year around [XXX] I was driving on the freeway when experienced an engine stall, had to move the vehicle to the shoulder and almost got hit by a semi-truck. Got the car towed to the nearest Dodge dealership where the car was later inspected by a certified service advisor. He stated that the reason for the engine stall was a rod bearing failure. After looking it up on NHTSA's website, I found out that there were 2 open safety recall for this truck which Dodge has failed to notify me about and get it fixed. One of the open safety recall is: 664- LOSS OF CRANKSHAFT POS. Although a failure in the crankshaft position can usually not directly cause damage to the rod bearing, If there is a failure in the crankshaft position sensor, this can lead to synchronization problems in the engine and If these conditions are severe enough and persist for an extended period, they can eventually lead to engine damage, including damage to the rod bearings. I've contacted Dodge directly and they refused to provide any assistance for this matter and closed the case alleging that the truck is past its warranty and there is nothing they can do about it. The cost of repair is over $33k which I absolutely cannot afford to pay. Insurance company won't cover it either because it was a 'mechanical breakdown'. Upon talking to the California Department of Consumer Affairs, they advised me to contact the NHTSA regarding this matter. Thank you so much in advance, I hope you guys can help me fighting this case. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Occasionally after driving 15-30 minutes my dash gives me a quick "auto park brake disengaged" notification and my speedometer goes to 0 while I'm driving, then everything goes back to normal. (Event happens approximately every 3rd to 5th time I drive the vehicle) An additional event has occurred after driving a while my entire dash and screen will blackout as well. I've researched the internet and found that numerous people have the same issue or similar. I've gone to Dealerships and get no help whatsoever, they act like I'm wasting there time and basically ignore me, they said since I can't make the issue happen they can't look at it. I've read the same responses across the internet by other 2018 Ram 1500 owners, it's obvious we don't have a voice to this safety concern. Please look into this matter before someone gets hurt. I've owned the truck for approximately 2 months, I bought it from a dealership, the truck is in excellent condition with no major repairs. Definitely an electrical/computer issue.

In June of 2023, I was driving home and the vehicle became unresponsive, but still powered on. I was able to steer it partially to the side of the road. The gas pedal was unresponsive, all electrical was unresponsive and it also would not turn off. I called my husband, when he arrived about 20 minutes later we were finally able to turn off the truck, but electrical was still unresponsive so the windows would not roll up. I had just gotten off the freeway, about a mile, and was lucky to be in a residential area or I would have been unable to drive on the freeway. This is a major safely issue and I also had my 9 year old daughter in the truck with me. No warning messages or any symptoms prior to the problem/failure. We called and had it towed to our local trusted mechanic, Gray's Tire and Auto. It took about a month for Gray's to figure out the problem. They were also in conversations with the local RAM Dealer who did not know how to fix the problem. It ended up being recall [XXX] that was the issue. The vehicle turns on and off by itself and the radio and ac also started to turn on and switched between hi and low and the radio stations kept switching stations the power lock window buttons in times worked other times it would be stuck and didn't work. The key fob was switched to a new key fob however the problem persist the vehicle came to a sudden stop and shut off in the middle of the highway while driving causing all the electrical system in the vehicle to activate the alarm going off the anti lock brake on and the vehicle lights and vehicle turning on and off. I am concern with my safety and the public safety as this vehicle shut off while I was driving this could have cause a major accident if I were driving at regular high speed in the highway this could have caused total lost of control of the vehicle I had to get it towed to the dealer for service. The dealer fails to conduct a proper electrical diagnosis on the vehicle stating the issue is the key fob which was switch for a new one however this happen same day the key fob was switched which means the key fob was not the issue there is a major electrical issue that needs investigation this vehicle should be off the road or salvage no warning lights prior or after the incident the date it started which was on March 13,2024 the car was brought to service and released on April 3, 2024 and after changing key fob the problem continues and on April 4th the vehicle shut off while driving without warning. RQ25003 · Post Recall Remedy Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (btsi) Failure

Opened Jul 3, 2025 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Power Train:automatic Transmission; Power Train:automatic Transmission:gear Position Indication (prndl)

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 14 Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports and 6 EWR Death & Injury (D&I) reports describing post recall remedy failures of the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) system in certain Model Year (MY) 2013-2018 RAM pickup trucks. The subject vehicle models include 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks equipped with a column mounted shift lever. The failures of the BTSI described in the VOQs occurred on vehicles that had all previously been repaired under recall 17V-821 or 18V-100.Both recalls address a potential condition which can cause the BTSI locking pin to become stuck allowing the transmission to be shifted out of Park without depressing the brake pedal and/or without having a key in the ignition.Shifting the transmission out of Park when not having the brake pedal depressed can result in a vehicle rollaway. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to review the effectiveness of the 17V-821 and 18V-100 recall remedies, understand the root cause of additional vehicle rollaway incidents, and identify any other possible root cause that may affect the performance of the BTSI system. EA23001 · High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure

Opened Mar 17, 2023 · No close date supplied

Status: open (inferred from source dates) · Fuel System, Diesel:delivery:fuel Pump

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface. Additional work will be done to identify whether a similar root cause is associated with the FCA recalled population and if similar wear dynamics occur on pumps supplied to vehicle manufacturers other than those included in the recalled population.ODI has upgraded this investigation to an EA in order to 1) determine engineering specifications of internal pump components that are correlated with pump failure leading to loss of motive power or other safety related hazards, 2) identify vehicle populations equipped with alleged defective pump variants, 3) assess if vehicles equipped with alleged defective pump variants result in an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety and 4) gather and review any other relevant information related to high pressure fuel pump failure associated with the subject populations of recalls 21V586, 21V880, 21E094, 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087.Review of the above information will allow NHTSA to confirm root cause and recall remedy viability, and identify and evaluate vehicle populations equipped with pump components that may pose an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. The ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID using the following complaint identification numbers: 11257550, 11351441, 11361603, 11361616, 11365300, 11365426, 11365858, 11366401, 11372337, 11373793, 11374797, 11376793, 11377871, 11378173, 11384377, 11386063, 11387018, 11399710, 11402550, 11415339, 11418868, 11418870, 11427075, 11434276, 11436807, 11437226, 11437249, 11437273, 11437292, 11437294, 11437394, 11437399, 11437403, 11437405, 11437423, 11437528, 11437565, 11437579, 11437580, 11437590, 11437679, 11437744, 11437781, 11437842, 11437993, 11438006, 11438008, 11438121, 11438138, 11438155, 11438392, 11438629, 11439359, 11439879, 11440397, 11443030, 11446542, 11448163, 11453556, 11458918, 11460558, 11469337
