THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, CAR TOOK OFF AND BRAKES WERE AS HARD AS A ROCK, THE ONLY WAY TO CONTROL CAR WAS TO PUT IN NEUTRAL. THIS LAST TIME I WAS ON A FREEWAY IN SOUTHERN CALIF. AND THE CAR TOOK OFF AGAIN AND I ENDED OFF THE FREEWAY IN A VACANT FIELD TO STOP THE CAR. I WAS AFRAID OF GOING INTO A RESIDENTAL AREA. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS REPORTED AND THE CAR WAS CHECKED OUT AT A LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP, AND NOTHING WAS FOUND. THE CAR IS THERE NOW AGAIN AND THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING. THE CAR HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS.ODDLY ENOUGH WHEN I CALLED AAA TO TOW ME OUT OF THE FIELD THIS LAST TIME THE DISPATCHER STATED THAT HER MOM'S BUICK DOES THE SAME THING. GM IS MAKING IT SOUND LIKE THIS IS UNHEARD OF AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON, YET ON THE INTERNET THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHER CASES. *AK

THESE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED WITH LIGHTING CONTROL MODULES WHICH CAN EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE CURRENT LEAKAGE DUE TO DAMAGED SURFACE MOUNTING CAPACITORS. THIS CAN CAUSE LOSS OF HEAD LAMPS AND PARKING LAMPS.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: SUDDEN LOSS OF HEADLAMPS CAN CAUSE REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY WHICH CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT. ALSO, THE HEAD LAMPS CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, OR THEY MAY TURN ON WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, RESULTING IN LOSS OF BATTERY CHARGE AND INABILITY TO RESTART THE CAR.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HEADLAMP MODULE.
