I HAD ALL FOUR HANKOOK DYNAPRO ATM TIRES FROM THIS BATCH REPLACED FOR TREAD SEPARATION. I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THESE TIRES IN MARCH OF 2010. I HAD TWO OF THEM REPLACED IN APRIL OF 2013 (THE SEPARATION ON THE TWO TIRES WERE SO BAD THAT THEY WOULD NOT LET ME LEAVE THE SHOP WITH THEM.), THEN THE BLOWOUT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 THEN THE FINAL REPLACEMENT IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. ALL OF THESE TIRES WERE REPLACED DUE TO THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES. I REPLACED THESE TIRES WITH THE SAME PRODUCT THINKING I JUST GOT A BAD BATCH OF TIRES. BUT WHEN SHOWING THE GUYS AT THE DISCOUNT TIRE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TIRE AND CAR WHEN THE TREAD BLEW OFF THE TIRE AND THE 2500 DAMAGE THAT WAS CAUSED TO THE SUV, THEY FELT THAT THAT WAS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND THAT I NEEDED TO FILE A CLAIM WITH HANKOOK. THEY HELPED ME GET THE CLAIM STARTED. I WAS CONTACTED BY JUAN BRITOS WHO ASKED ME TO SEND IN AN ESTIMATE FROM A REPAIR COMPANY WHICH I DID. A FEW DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THE CLAIM WAS DENIED DUE TO PROLONGED OPERATION OF THE TIRE IN AN UNDER-INFLATED STATE THIS CLAIM IS SIMPLY UNTRUE. I COMMUTE QUITE A FEW MILES A WEEK. I AM VERY CONSCIOUS OF THE PRESSURE OF MY TIRES. I DO THIS FOR ECONOMIC REASONS I KNOW KEEPING PROPERLY INFLATED TIRES IMPROVES MPG. THIS IS WHY I KEEP A TIRE PRESSURE GAGE IN THE DOOR OF MY CAR AND CHECK IT REGULARLY. I ALSO KEEP AN AIR COMPRESSOR IN MY CAR TO INFLATE ANY UNDER INFLATED TIRES, THIS IS ALSO AN AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF COMPRESSOR THAT SHUTS OFF AT THE SET PSI. I KEEP MY TIRES AT A RANGE OF 35-40 PSI. I ALSO HAVE A TPMS SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE THAT WOULD WARN ME OF ANY LOW PRESSURE ISSUES.

I'VE WASTED MORE THAN $3000 TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.. NOW THE MECHANIC SAYS THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION MODULE VALVE IS NEEDED ....HOW MANY MORE TRUCKS BREAKING DOWN OR COMPLAINTS UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED.... I WAS LUCKY THAT WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY NO CARS WERE COMING FULL SPEED...BECAUSE WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE I WOULD OF CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND GOTTEN KILLED...I LOVED MY TRUCK AND MISS RIDING IT...PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS... THANK YOU..

AS I CAME UP TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, THE XTERRA BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND THE TACHOMETER STARTED RISING AND FALLING UNTIL I FINALLY STOPPED, THEN THE TACHOMETER DROPPED BELOW 500 RPM AND THE TRUCK TURNED OFF. RESTARTED IT FINE, BUT IT STALLED AGAIN. I QUICKLY FIGURED OUT THAT ALTHOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC, I NEEDED TO DRIVE IT LIKE A MANUAL. SO I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, STARTED IT AGAIN, IT DID NOT STALL, THEN I REVVED THE ENGINE TO 2,000 RPM AND PUT IT INTO DRIVE. OFF I WENT, AND IT DID NOT DO IT AGAIN THAT DAY. HOWEVER, OVER THE NEXT MONTH IT BECAME A GROWING PROBLEM, UNTIL IT FINALLY WAS OCCURRING EVERY SINGLE TIME I STOPPED UNLESS I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC WHO SPENT 4 HOURS DIAGNOSING IT TO BE CERTAIN OF THE PROBLEM. WHICH THEY SAID WAS A FAILING TORQUE CONVERTOR AND PLATE. IT FAILED DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION FROM A BROKEN HOUSING COMING OFF OF THE RADIATOR (APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR WHICH NISSAN REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY). NOT HARD TO VERIFY THEIR FINDINGS DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF PINK MILKSHAKE LOOKING LIQUID IN THE RADIATOR. FINAL VERDICT, AT BEST IT NEEDS A NEW TORQUE CONVERTOR AND PLATE, BUT WITH THE AMOUNT OF EFFORT TO INSTALL THOSE AND UNKNOWN FURTHER DAMAGE FROM THE COOLANT LEAK, A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS RECOMMENDED.

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 ARMADA, TITAN, INFINITI QX56 AND MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER AND XTERRA VEHICLES. THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY THAT HAS A DIODE FOR ELECTRICAL CURRENT NOISE REDUCTION. THE ECM RELAY MAY ALLOW SILICON VAPOR TO FORM AND, OVER TIME, THE SILICON EVAPORATES FROM THE DIODE MOLDING WHICH CAUSES SILICON OXIDE TO DEVELOP ON THE ECM RELAY CONTACT DUE TO ARCING.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE ENGINE STALLING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ECM RELAY INSIDE THE IPDM ASSEMBLY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 6, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 AND MODEL YEAR 2008 FRONTIER, XTERRA AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE MOLDED FUEL TANK SHELLS CAN DEFORM, CAUSING THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WITH A NEW ONE THAT HAS A MODIFIED FLOAT ARM. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
