EVEN IF MY TANK IS FUEL, IT SAYS I ONLY HAVE A QUARTER OF A TANK. LAST FRIDAY I FILLED UP MY TANK AND THE GAS LIGHT CAME ON RIGHT AFTER I FILLED IT UP. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OK TO DRIVE ON AND THAT I NEED TO DRIVE IT DOWN TO 1/2 OR. 1/4 TANK OTHERWISE THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE A ONE YEAR OLD BABY THAT I HAVE TO DRIVE TO DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS. I LIVE ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE CITY AND ALWAYS TAKE THE FREEWAY TO GET AROUND. KNOWING THAT MY CAR CAN STALL AND SHUT DOWN IS NOT COMFORTING TO ME. AT THIS POINT NOT SURE WHAT TO DO OR WHO TO CALL. I HAVE BEEN RELUCTANT TO DRIVE MUCH SO I STILL CANNOT BRING MY CAR IN UNTIL THE GAS GAUGE DROPS LOWER. BUT I DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I REALLY HAVE SINCE THAT GAUGE DOESN'T EVEN WORK. *TR

IN NOVEMBER 2008 I PURCHASED MY 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE FROM A PRIVATE OWNER. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER HAVING IT INSPECTED, I WAS TOLD IT WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AND FOR 1 YEAR I DROVE IT WITH NO SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. IN NOVEMBER 2009, THE GAS GAGUE BEGAN REGISTERING EMPTY WHEN IT WAS ON A QUARTER TANK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL SENSOR ($400) WHICH RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SAME MAKE/MODEL AND FOR THAT EXACT PROBLEM JUST 3 MONTHES AFTER I HAD MINE REPAIRED, BUT BECAUSE MY VIN# WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST, I WAS TOLD MY MONEY WOULD NOT BE REFUNDED . NOT LONG AFTER THIS INCIDENT WITH 58,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT EVEN THOUGH MY TRANSMISSION IS COVERED UP TO 60,000 MILES, BECAUSE THE PROBLEM ORIGINATED FROM A FAULTY SEAL ON MY RADIATOR (ONLY COVERED UNTIL 36,000 MILES) THAT LEAKED ANTIFREEZE INTO MY TRANSMISSION, MY TRANSMISSION REPAIRS WERE MY RESPONSIBILITY. I CALL NISSAN CORP. TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT NISSAN HAS RECEIVED MULTIPLE COMPLAINT CALLS FORM OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. SHE ADVISED ME TO VOICE MY CONCERNS TO YOU IN HOPES THAT YOU COULD RESLOVE THE MATTER.

EXPRESABAN QUE SUS VEHICULOS ENCENDIAN LA LUZ DE "CHECK ENGINE" Y ERA COMO CONSECUENCIA DEL PROBLEMA CON LA FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. LUEGO DE UN ANALISIS DETERMINE QUE PODRI SER COMO CONSECUENCIA DE UN DEFECTO DE MANOFACTURA DEL FABRICANTE. *TR

ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO MY FUEL GAUGE BOTTOMED OUT AFTER FILLING THE TANK. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN ERRATIC WITH THE FUEL READING. WE CONTINUED TO DEAL WITH IT UNTIL RECENTLY. MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE JUST DIED. SHE MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND THE CAR RESTARTED. THIS CONTINUED SEVERAL MORE TIMES UNTIL SHE RETURNED HOME. NOW THE CAR WON'T START AT ALL. THE CODE PULLED FROM IT IS P0463. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN. *TR

I OWN A 2006 PATHFINDER AND BASED ON RESEARCH DONE ONLINE, IT'S APPALLING TO SEE HOW MANY FOLKS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLE. I FILLED UP MY TANK ON 6/19, BUT FUEL GAUGE DIDN'T MOVE FROM HALF TANK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SOON CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AFTER DISCUSSING WITH THE DEALER, IT'S GOING TO COST ABOUT $600 TO FIX THIS WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM ON THE PATHFINDERS, XTERRAS AND FRONTIERS. THE ISSUE IS A FUEL SENDER SENSOR THAT CAN REDUCE OR STOP GAS FROM FLOWING INTO THE ENGINE. THIS IS A PART FAILURE THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY NISSAN BEFORE ANYONE IS INJURED OR RESULTS IN DEATH DUE TO VEHICLE STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. TO READ THAT MOST FOLKS ARE NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM DUE TO THE FINANCIAL IS JUST AS FREIGHTING, BUT I'M IN TOTAL AGREEMENT. WHY SHOULD ANYONE HAVE TO PAY FOR A KNOWN AND DEFECTIVE PART ON A VEHICLE THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH LITTLE OVER 40K MILES. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS, GOING BACK TO 2000. NISSAN FINALLY RECALLED THE 2000 THROUGH 2004 MODELS. THEY NEED TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THE 2005 THROUGH 2009 MODELS. IN THIS SITE ALONE THERE ARE OVER 45 COMPLAINTS ON THE 2006 PATHFINDER. THAT IS ON 2006 MODEL YEAR ALONE. SEARCHING THROUGH OTHER FORUMS, THE COMPLAINTS LITTER WEB PAGES ON THE SAME PROBLEM ACROSS THE NATION. SOMEONE OFFERED A SOLUTION TO PULL THE NEGATIVE WIRE FROM THE BATTERY WHICH WOULD RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TURN IT OFF. THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, IT PROLONGS IT AND GIVES A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. *TR

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2006 ARMADA, TITAN, INFINITI QX56 AND MODEL YEAR 2005-2006 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER AND XTERRA VEHICLES. THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY THAT HAS A DIODE FOR ELECTRICAL CURRENT NOISE REDUCTION. THE ECM RELAY MAY ALLOW SILICON VAPOR TO FORM AND, OVER TIME, THE SILICON EVAPORATES FROM THE DIODE MOLDING WHICH CAUSES SILICON OXIDE TO DEVELOP ON THE ECM RELAY CONTACT DUE TO ARCING.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE ENGINE STALLING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ECM RELAY INSIDE THE IPDM ASSEMBLY. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 6, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 AND MODEL YEAR 2008 FRONTIER, XTERRA AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE MOLDED FUEL TANK SHELLS CAN DEFORM, CAUSING THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS AND STALL IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WITH A NEW ONE THAT HAS A MODIFIED FLOAT ARM. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 22, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

IF THIS OCCURS, THE CZS MAY INTERNALLY RUST RESULTING IN A SIGNAL INTERRUPTION. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE RED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE TO ALERT THE VEHICLE OPERATOR.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: THIS ISSUE COULD RESULT IN THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAGS IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.
