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

FRONT COLLISON SENSOR KEEPS MALFUNCTIONING ON A BROAD RANGE OF NEWER NISSANS INCLUDING THE KICKS WHICH COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STOP ON ITS OWN. ALSO, MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPLACE SCRATCHED UP AND MALFUNCTIONING TOUCH SCREEN RADIO UNITS.

AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED THE ENGINE STARTS BUT NONE OF THE INSTRUMENTS IN THE DASHBOARD (DIGITAL GAUGE, SENSORS, ETC...) INCLUDING THE STEREO WOULD TURN ON. IN ADDITION POWER STEERING IS NOT FUNCTIONAL. IT TAKES SEVERAL TRIES OF RESTARTING THE CAR IN ORDER TO GET ALL THE GAUGES, SENSORS, STEREO AND POWER STEERING TO FUNCTION. THIS ISSUR CAN HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS COMPLETELY OFF AND IT IS TURNED ON. I EVEN TOOK A VIDEO SHOWING THE ISSUE.

Sep 12, 2019

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.
