The Cross Wind Assist feature on the Mercedes Sprinter is extremely flawed and dangerous. It is also the only assistance system you cannot disable. We have brought it up to Merceds Benz mechanics and dealers and they are aware of the issues, but say there is currently no fix from corporate. I have had the system activate hundreds of times on short windy drives. The last incident was driving through Nebraska from Omaha to the Colorado border. The system engaged 600-800 times. It was windy, but the danger wasn't the wind, it was the cross wind assist feature. When the system engages (which appears to be random at times) it brakes one of the front wheels in the direction opposing wind gusts. When this happens your front nose dips sharply in that direction and makes the van rock violently. It does this particularly when other cars or semi-trucks are passing. Sometimes it does it back to back as if the system is engaging to correct itself. It's truly dangerous. I don't know how they released a vehicle with this feature. I was hoping a brand new van of this quality would make long drives feel safer. My experience has been the opposite.

My message belongs to all vehicle manufacturers. Especially the business/commercial vehicles like mine . Which we spent most of our time inside it, during the work periods'. I would like to ask a favor to take a better attention when it comes to Safety/Comfort /look. We don't Race or Camp but work and sometimes live there. Most of the time me and my hardworking colleagues don't complain a lot. Because we don't have time. Sometimes we also wanna grab a Starbucks coffee, if they can make the drive thro clearance just a little bit higher. The future is in all of us hand, let's work together to make this life safer and more pleasure! Without discriminating each other. We don't ask for Shiny Chrome wheels. But we need you to install, all of your best safety systems without asking " Do i want or not ?" Because sometimes we might say no without know why. Until we get killed and died. I am writing this message because i got survived. I found attractive property for leases in one of RE apps. Because that address was on my way back. I came there, and parked right across the street, while idling my vehicle, dreaming of my automotive shop. "Wow I might have a Downtown View its so nice". A lots of other places says " No Automotive Businesses" even tho " Zoning was allowed " but this place was not. And just about minutes later, the car slowly came and stopped next to me with a full of young guys inside. Masks on their face, globs and guns on their hands. They dragged me down hit me with a gun , until I think about "is it real or what ?". What i remember ." Where is money, key, phone " repeatedly by mixing bad words . I told them "Take everything inside". Cause i scared and was hoping for the help. "Can my van give little sound & Light so 911 can see us ? Forgetting, you don't have that Trim . Then some how they left. Rushed to get back to my seat, pushing the emergency button and no click. I ask the guy who's riding a bike "call911' but he " no need to go work By!"

After normal engine start, put vehicle in reverse, able to roll out of parking spot, but throttle completely unaffected by accelerator position. Leaving vehicle in a dangerous position. Putting back in park, vehicle can rev to 5000RPM, but back in R or D, no throttle response. Eninge OFF/ON several times seems to clear the issue which appears to be software related. No indications or faults were given on the dashboard. The situation is potentially life threatening, and has been reported on multiple occasions on Sprinter Online forums. This needs a recall and fix.

The “Cross Wind Assist” my vehicle came equipped from the factory with has nearly caused me to have a serious accident due directly to -totally - distracting me when driving the speed limit on a major highway. The “Cross Wind Assist” activates with no notice to the driver and indiscriminately applies the brakes with out any warning and momentarily causes loss of steering control as the vehicle overcorrects to compensate for detected crosswinds. The majority of the time this happens when passing or being passed by large fast moving tractor trailers. I am not the only one with this complaint as noted on this forum stream: [XXX] I firmly believe this will cause me, or other drivers of Mercedes Benz Sprinter Vans - to wreck and potentially harm innocent drivers around me when the “Cross Wind Assist” is activated with no notice to me as I am driving by overcorrecting while fighting the aggressive automatic “cross wind assist”. The “Cross Wind Assist” is NOT driver selectable, i.e., the driver cannot turn this feature off. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving the MB sprinter with distronic cruise control and there are no vehicles around the cruise control option on the sprinter will disable itself and fail to restart until it senses another vehicle object around. I have noticed this many times while driving long distance on the interstate.
