2017 Mazda MAZDA6

2017 Mazda6 Infotainment System also found in Mazda CX-5. Known as "Ghost Touch," it is a known issue acknowledged by the company and dealerships. Available for inspection upon request. The Infotainment system controls navigation, ADAS heads up navigation, illumination of instruments and other driver instrumentation and safety warning systems. Above a set speed the screen is NOT a touch screen. When the car slows below a preset speed or is stopped, the display screen becomes a touch screen. The screen will then randomly and intermittently begin to reset itself, changing between and altering settings. This was repaired by Mazda on pre-2016 models, but Mazda declined on 2017-2020 models. This has the potential of causing accidents by making instrumentation unreadable, random dialing bluetooth phone connections, etc. As stated search for "Ghost touch Mazda" and you will find many references and complaints. The problem is ongoing since 2021. The component has apparently been upgraded but will cost 700+ to repair.

Display screen has developed the common “spider web cracking” with my 2017 Mazda 6. There has been no accident on my vehicle and it is causing issues with being able to clearly see what is showing. My driver seat “heated seat” has melted the lower back leather material. The heating element doesn’t heat the bottom of the seat and just the lower back part. It has caused the leather to melt

Hello! My Mazda 6 main screen rebooting every 2-3 minutes. Sometimes I cannot get into the menu to make changes. Radio is continue working at this time, but navigation is off and I have to put information from the beginning. The main issue is when the screen is restarting while I'm backing up. The back up camera is turning off and it's create a safety issue and can be potentially dangerous for pedestrians and myself!

Similar to the recall on the 2016-2016 Mazda6, the 2017 Mazda 6 has a touch screen issue (ghost touch). Mazda MUST issue a SSP for this vehicle. It is unacceptable that Mazda is aware of this issue and has chosen not to issue a SSP. My vehicle touch screen is unusable because of the ghost screen issue and there is no way for the consumer to disable the touch screen.

My Mazda 6 control screen, that displays and is used to control entertainment, car settings (lights, brakes, warnings, etc.), GPS, and various safety and control applications failed and was unusable. My car, like so many reported on social media, was just out of warranty. I was forced to pay $1,254 to replace this CMU at my dealership. This defective unit, and it's associated computer, is a known failure by Mazda. In fact, it is so known that a recall and an extended warranty period for subject owners was made for the Mazda 3 line of cars. This defect is also very, very well known and reported by many Mazda 6 owners with no coverage against the defect by Mazda and no recall or extended warranty period. Mazda 3 owners were treated fairly; Mazda 6 owners that suffer from the same defective units are not. It is a very, very expensive and very, very common defect acknowleged by Mazda Corporation that we should not have to pay to repair.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 MAZDA 6 TODAY, THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT STRUCK THE SUNROOF, I HAD NOT TRAVELED UNDER AN OVERPASS AND THERE WASN'T A DRAMATIC TEMPERATURE CHANGE. I HAVE BEEN READING OF THE INCREASED NUMBER OF INCIDENTS OF SUNROOFS EXPLODING FOR NO REASON. MY MAZDA DEALERSHIP DENIES THERE BEING ANY "ISSUES"; HOWEVER, CONSUMER REPORTS AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS.
