I SAW A SEGMENT ON THE NEWS ABOUT OTHER OWNERS OF MAZDA, NISSAN AND ETC. THAT HAS A CRACKING, STICKY DASHBOARD AS WELL. I WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT YOU. MY DASHBOARD IS STICKY UNDERNEATH THE DASHMAT AND IN THE AREA OF JUST ABOVE THE GLOVEBOX, THE DASH IS FALLING OFF IN CLUMPS. IT IS A BLACK CUSHIONY MATERIAL THAT IS FALLING APART AND ALSO CRACKING WHERE THE DASHMAT DOESN'T REACH. THE DASH IS ALSO VERY STICKY AS WELL. I WILL CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND MAZDA BUT WOULD LIKE THIS RESOLVED. *TR

THE ROD TO THE DOOR HANDLE INSIDE THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FELL IN DUE TO THE RECALL THAT HAPPENED BACK IN DECEMBER 2013. THE RECALL ONLY REPLACED SCREWS ON THE PART THAT WAS STILL IN THE DOOR. IT DID NOT COVER THE PART THAT FELL IN BECAUSE THE SCREWS FELL OUT THAT HOLD THE PIECE IN. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE WITHOUT THE ROD ATTACHED. THIS IS DUE TO THE FIRST RECALL. WE HAD NO IDEA THE SCREWS FELL OUT UNTIL THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE AND WE EXAMINED IT. IT SHOULD OF BEEN PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL. THIS COULD CREATE A SITUATION WHERE IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT OR ISSUE AND THE PASSENGER IS NOT AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING NO ONE FROM THE OUTSIDE WOULD BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GET THEM HELP OR GET THEM OUT. THIS SHOULD BE A NEW RECALL. THIS SHOULD OF BEEN COVERED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL AND PAID FOR BY MAZDA TO FIX. *TR

I BOUGHT MY MAZDA 6, YEAR 2009, BRAND NEW FROM A MAZDA DEALER IN VIRGINIA. SOME TIME AGO, WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AT APPROXIMATELY. 30 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON ONE OF THE MAIN ROADS, I THEN TURNED ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AS I NEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT THE VERY NEXT LIGHT. SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC. LUCKILY I WAS NOT HIT BY THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE GEAR IN PARK, START THE ENGINE AGAIN AND DRIVE THE CAR HOME. I THEN CALLED THE MAZDA DEALER (WHERE I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR) AND I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED. TO MY GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT, THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM I HAD ON THE ROAD, WHEN THE ENGINE DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR. A FEW MONTHS LATER A SIMILAR PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE MAZDA DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH IT AT THAT TIME EITHER. NOW MAZDA HAS A RECALL FOR MAZDA 6, 2010-2012 ONLY, BUT IT'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SPIDER'S WEBS AND POSSIBLE RISK OF CRACKS IN THE FUEL TANK, WITH A RISK OF A FIRE. I'M CONCERNED THE YEAR 2009 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SINCE THE SAME PROBLEM APPEARED IN THE EARLIER RECALL. *TR

THE CHECK BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I FOUND THAT THERE WAS VERY LITTLE BREAK FLUID. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC AND HE DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE BREAK LINE CREATED WHEN IT RUBBED UP AGAINST THE ENGINE. HE SAID IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND RECOMMENDED THAT WE TAKE THE CAR TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING BUT COULD NOT MAKE ANY JUDGMENT. HE CONSULTED WITH MAZDA CORPORATE. CORPORATE RULED THAT SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE PART. AS A GESTURE OF GOODWILL THEY PAID FOR THE PART WHICH WAS $73.28, AND CHARGED ME $405.00 IN LABOR TO INSTALLATION. TO ME, I WOULD CERTAINLY LIKE TO GET REIMBURSED MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. BUT MORE, SO I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS DESIGN FLAW CORRECTED SO THAT SOMEONE DOESN'T KILLED WHEN THEIR BRAKES FAIL. I WILL BE OUT OF THE COUNTRY UNTIL FEB. 17TH. THANK YOU *TR

I UNDERSTAND THAT THE CAR ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE; HOWEVER, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT MY RIM WOULD CRACK AS I'M DRIVING. LIKE I SAID A MILLION TIMES TO SO MANY PEOPLE, I DID NOT HIT A CURB, OR A BUMP FOR THE RIM TO CRACK. I HAVE ONE RIM ISSUE AND ALL THE OTHERS ARE JUST FINE. THIS IS MY RIM STORY FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END... IN THE WEEK OF AUGUST 15TH-21ST, 2010, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ALL OF A SUDDEN. I GOT NERVOUS AND I NOTICED MY FRONT-RIGHT TIRE WAS SOMEWHAT LOW. I WENT TO PEP BOYS TO HAVE AIR PUT INTO THE TIRE. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN AND I WENT TO ANOTHER PEP BOYS TO HAVE AIR PUT INTO THE TIRE. THE WARNING LIGHT DISAPPEARED AFTER IT WAS WORKED ON. THEN THE WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS AND I WENT BACK TO PEP BOYS TO HAVE THE FRONT-RIGHT TIRE CHECKED AGAIN. THE YOUNG MAN SAID TO ME, "MISS, THERE IS A CRACK INSIDE OF YOUR FRONT-RIGHT RIM." I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO REPAIRS RIMS AND REPAIR MY RIM. EVERYTHING WAS FINE AFTER THE RIM WAS REPAIRED. THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MAZDA CORPORATION ABOUT RECALLS. I HAD THOSE DONE AND THE DEALER SAID, "I NEED TO GET MY TIRES CHECKED AGAIN." I LEFT THE DEALER AND WENT TO FIRESTONE AND THEY REPAIRED THE CRACKED RIM (2ND TIME). ON JANUARY 11, 2014, MY AUNT AND I RETURNED FROM FOOD SHOPPING AROUND 3PM. I PARKED THE CAR AT MY AUNT'S HOUSE TO UNPACK THE FOOD FROM THE TRUNK. MY AUNT, COUSIN AND I WERE GETTING SOME OF THE FOOD OUT OF THE CAR, WHEN ALL THREE OF US HEARD AIR (WHOOOOOOSH) BEING BLOWN OUT OF A TIRE FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. WE ALL STOOD STILL AND LOOKED TO SEE WHICH CAR THE AIR WAS COMING FROM. THEN MY COUSIN LOOK AT MY CAR SAID, "[XXX], DO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A FLAT?" I JUST COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS HAPPENING AGAIN! WHEN I SAW THE TIRE FLAT AS A PANCAKE AND THE RIM TOUCHING THE GROUND, I WAS SHOCKED AND UPSET. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

MAZDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 MAZDA6 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 8, 2008, THROUGH FEBRUARY 8, 2010. A CERTAIN TYPE OF SPIDER MAY WEAVE A WEB IN THE EVAPORATIVE CANISTER VENT LINE AND THIS MAY CAUSE A RESTRICTION IN THE LINE. Consequence & remedy

Consequence: AS THE CANISTER IS PURGED REPEATEDLY DURING NORMAL OPERATION, THE STRESS ON THE FUEL TANK MAY EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A CRACK, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO FUEL LEAKAGE AD AN INCREASED RISK OF FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND CLEAN UP THE CANISTER VENT LINE, AND INSTALL A SPRING TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF SPIDER FROM ENTERING THE VENT LINE. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE MARCH 25, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MAZDA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-222-5500.

PE18006 · Front Subframe Corrosion

Opened May 21, 2018 · Closed Nov 2, 2018

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Suspension; Suspension:front

In a letter dated September 14, 2018, Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of a defect in the front subframe assemblies of model year (MY) 2009 through 2010 Mazda6 vehicles in certain states with high road salt use in winter months (Recall 18V-631). The recall covers approximately 48,814 vehicles that were sold or ever registered in the following states and District of Columbia:Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Mazda indicated that the recalled vehicles may have insufficient paint coating on the front cross member, which after continuous use in salt states may cause premature corrosion of the cross member. As the corrosion progresses over time, the structural integrity of the mounting point at the passenger side of the lower control arm may deteriorate and cause the steering alignment to change. If the steering alignment changes significantly while the vehicle is in motion this may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.ODI's analysis of complaints it has received from the public (VOQ's) and Mazda complaint data submitted in response to the information request letter for PE18-006 identified a total of 53 non-duplicative reports alleging incidents in which front cross-member corrosion had progressed to the stage of complete or partial separation of the subject steering or suspension components and another 98 reports alleging premature and/or excessive corrosion of the subject components with no separation. Mazda's recall will inspect the subframe and apply structural reinforcements, anti-corrosive wax and an AC drain tube free of charge. In cases of excessive corrosion, the subframe will be replaced free of charge. All 53 complaints alleging complete or partial separations involved vehicles that will be covered under Mazda's recall, resulting in a failure rate of 108.6 reports per 100,000 vehicles (R/100k) in the recalled population. When all complaints are analyzed by region, 150 involve vehicles included in Mazda's recall (307.3 R/100k) and just 1 involved a MY 2009 through 2010 Mazda6 vehicle not included in 18V-631 (2.8 R/100k). The field data indicate that Mazda's recall adequately covers vehicles with a risk of experiencing premature corrosion-related failure of the subject steering and suspension components in the subject vehicles. Suspension:front

PE13015 · Door Latch Failures Due To Loose Screws

Opened May 9, 2013 · Closed Sep 30, 2013

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Latches/locks/linkages; Latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this investigation based on reports that the doors were failing to properly latch on model year (MY) 2009 Mazda6 vehicles.Complainants alleged that the door would fail to latch, or would not properly latch. ODI received a total of 9 complaints alleging this condition primarily on the front side doors, however any of the four side doors could be affected. In response to ODI's Information Request, Mazda provided 56 consumer complaints related to the alleged problem, and 329 warranty claims. On September 23, 2013, Mazda notified ODI that it would conduct a safety recall on model year 2009-2013 Mazda6 vehicles built from February 4, 2008 through August 24, 2012. This period covers the start of production of the MY 2009 Mazda6 through the end of production for the 2013 model year and totals a population of approximately 161,400 vehicles. Mazda determined that the door latch mounting screws may become loose due to lack of torque during manufacturing and/or unevenness of the door shell in the latch mounting area. If all three door latch mounting screws become loose, the door latch mechanism may not engage, potentially resulting in the doors opening while the vehicle is in motion. To remedy the condition, a thread locking adhesive will be applied to the latch screws on all side doors, and the screws will be tightened to the specified torque. This investigation is closed on the basis of Mazda's announcement of safety recall 13V-425.ODI reports cited above can be reviewed at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchNHTSAID under the following identification (ODI) numbers: 10406174, 10448036, 10492403, 10503682, 10508051, 10515258, 10521830, 10535228, 10544489.
