Vehicle: 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE While driving approximately 65-70 mph, a red battery/charging warning appeared instructing me to pull over immediately. Within approximately 3-5 minutes, the vehicle rapidly lost electrical power and became completely disabled while driving. EVERYTHING in my car started shutting down; no air, no lights, no steering. Steering and vehicle functions became inoperable and the vehicle required towing. The repair facility diagnosed a charging-system malfunction. Diagnostic notes stated the alternator was only producing approximately 11.2 volts and was not charging the battery. The repair facility also documented that the alternator was saturated in engine oil due to leaking valve covers and oil filter housing components. Repairs included replacement of the alternator, valve covers, oil filter housing, gaskets, coolant-related components, and associated labor under Land Rover repair procedures. I am submitting this complaint because the sudden loss of electrical power while driving at highway speed created a serious safety concern. The only thing that saved me for an accident is the high speed I was traveling coasted my car to the exit as an 18-wheeler truck was on the side and behind me.

The contact owns a 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65-70 MPH, the contact believed that the battery warning light was illuminated before the vehicle shut off. The steering wheel became inoperable. The contact was able to pull over to the median, where an independent mechanic attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to VEX European, where an unknown diagnostic result was retrieved, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact later became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V248000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) online and associated the failure with the recall; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

Vehicle experienced sudden and complete shutdown while driving immediately after crossing railroad tracks. Dashboard warning displayed “battery failure.” Vehicle would not restart and would not shift into neutral, leaving it immobilized in traffic. Police department called and traffic was managed by 2 police officers. Vehicle was stuck on roadway and required manual override procedure (unknown to owner) to shift into neutral before being pushed off roadway. Vehicle was towed 250 miles. Dealership has indicated hybrid battery/system failure and ordered replacement battery. Concern: Sudden total loss of propulsion and inability to shift into neutral creates serious roadway safety hazard. If this had occurred seconds earlier, vehicle could have been immobilized directly on railroad tracks. Request investigation into hybrid battery/system failures causing sudden total shutdown without safe-mode capability.

The problem has been diagnosed by the dealer and there has been a recall issued for this specific recall, just not for my vin number. So Land Rover Corporate refuses to fix it or provide any financial help. The car has 45,000miles and we are the original owner. I believe our vin should also be included in the recall of the Land over Sport Infotainment system. I believe our model was not included because it was a diesel and not many range rover sport diesels are in the States,.

Car overheated on highway requiring immediate stopping and tow. After removing starter, pooling found while under pressure on shield under turbo manifold. Exact location of leak is tbd. These repairs should be covered by a recall for how frequently they occur. The MHEV turbo is generating too much heat for all of the plastic parts.

- I purchased my car in October 2022 and I have had a Coolant level low notification on my dashboard in December 2022. I then filled the coolant myself. - The warning notification showed up again after about 3 weeks in January 2023. I then took it to Land Rover Frisco Service and Parts Center on 1/25/2023 to get it get it inspected. They said they found 'Turbo Coolant Inlet and Outlet Pipes Leaking, Replace Turbo Coolant INLET Pipe and Replace Turbo Outlet Coolant Pipe' (exact words from the service note). - However, the SAME issue came back again after about 6 months, when I call them back for repair - they said I will have to pay it out of my pocket since my warranty has run out. - I asked them how much the cost would be, and they said to diagnose they would charge me $260 and then whatever amount the repair service would cost. As I could not afford it, I started re-filling the coolant whenever the car is giving me the 'coolant low' warning sign. And I have been doing that for the past good year or so. - I now some vehicles with the same year and model have been re-called for the specific safety issue that I am experiencing, However my vehicle is not part of the re-call. - I called them Land Rover this morning to request if they can fix my car for free, and they said since this car is not part of the re-called cars, I will have to pay for the fix. - I strongly believe this car should be part of the re-call as well.

On Monday, October 28, 2024, while driving on [XXX] [XXX] from McKinney, TX, to Irving, TX, a red oil can light appeared on my vehicle's dashboard. Shortly after, the car struggled to accelerate. I pulled over, and white smoke began coming through the dashboard vents. Noticing a strong smell, my daughter and I exited the vehicle. We observed fluid leaking on the ground and smoke intensifying. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar and Land Rover Discovery, 2020-2023 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, 2019-2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, 2020-2024 Land Rover Range Rover, 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport, 2020-2024 Land Rover Defender, 2021-2024 Jaguar F-Pace, and 2021-2022 Jaguar E-Pace mild-hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs.) The DC-DC converter can fail due to an internal fault in the boost control microchip. A failure of the DC-DC converter will result in a loss of 12-Volt system charging and can lead to complete loss of drive power and exterior lighting.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The remedy for this recall is currently under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed June 17, 2026. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport vehicles equipped with a Surround Camera System. Water may enter into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display or display a distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rearview camera for damage. If no damage is found, the camera will be fitted with a new seal. If damage is found, the camera will be replaced and calibrated. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2024. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N901. These vehicles were previously recalled under 24V-023 for this same issue and will need to have the new remedy completed.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: An oil leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: Engine failure can increase the risk of crash.

EA26003 · Front Steering Knuckle Fractures

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is upgrading its Preliminary Evaluation (PE25006) of front steering knuckle fractures on model year (MY) 2014 through 2017 Range Rover Sport vehicles to an Engineering Analysis.  ODI opened PE25006 on June 27, 2025, after receiving 12 Vehicle Owner's Questionnaire (VOQ) reports of the front aluminum steering knuckles fracturing in these vehicles. The reports describe the fractures occurring at the joint where the steering knuckle attaches to the upper control arm ball joint in one or both steering knuckles.  Fracture of the front suspension knuckle can lead to detachment of the upper suspension arm. Detachment of the upper suspension arm results in the driver’s inability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. ODI reviewed information supplied by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in response to Information Request letters as well as reviewed the data with JLR on numerous occasions. ODI further reviewed relevant data on a peer vehicle with a significantly similar steering knuckle design, the MY 2014 through 2017 Range Rover.  Much of the information is contradictory and requires a deeper analysis that is available in an Engineering Analysis. On August 5, 2025, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) filed safety recall 25V514.  This recall covers certain MY 2014 and all MY 2015-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles.  The remedy for recall 25V514 addresses knuckles with and without a visible fracture.  Knuckles that have developed a visible fracture will be replaced with a new knuckle of a substantially similar design.  Knuckles with no fracture visibly present will have a brace attached to the upper portion of the front steering knuckle.  JLR states that the purpose of the brace is to prevent the component from completely separating should a fracture develop. NHTSA continues to receive allegations of fractures occurring in the front steering knuckles of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles.  Two of the most recent VOQs received by ODI involve front steering knuckle fractures occurring on MY 2020 and MY 2021 Range Rover L405 vehicles.  ODI will continue to investigate the component design and assess the potential safety risk as part of this Engineering Analysis and evaluate the recall remedies for Recall 25V514.  Further, the scope of this Engineering Analysis will be expanded to include MY 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles as they have a substantially similar component design.
