AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THIS MOTORCYCLE IN DECEMBER OF '09 I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO WHERE THE MOTORCYCLE WILL JUST STALL. IT MOST CASES THIS HAPPENS WHEN PULLING IN THE CLUTCH TO COME TO A STOP, AFTERWARDS TAKING OFF AND GIVING SOME THROTTLE CAUSES THE MOTORCYCLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. IN SEVERAL INSTANCES THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THIS MOTORCYCLE IN TRAFFIC AND ONE INSTANCE WHERE IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO DROP THE MOTORCYCLE IN A PARKING LOT NEAR MY HOME. IN SOME INSTANCES IT WILL ALSO STALL SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. TO MY UNDERSTANDING KAWASAKI ORDERED A RECALL ON THE '09 AND '10 MODELS AND ARE REPLACING THE E.C.U DEVICES ON ALL. IN MY RESEARCH ON OTHER FORUMS IT IS DESCRIBED THAT THE E.C.U DEVICES ON THE '08 1600 MODELS ARE THE CAUSE AS WELL, YET KAWASAKI STILL HAS REFUSED TO FIX THIS FAULT. IN MY OPINION AS WELL AS OTHER '08 1600 NOMAD OWNERS, THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED AS THEY ARE NOW DOING FOR THE '09 AND '10 MODEL YEARS REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY STATUS. ALSO DUE TO MY RESEARCH I HAVE DONE SEVERAL THINGS TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING LIKE TURNING UP THE IDLE, CLEANING OUT THE THROTTLE BODY AND USING HIGH TEST GAS LIKE 93 OCTANE. RUNNING ANYTHING LESS IN CAUSES THE ENGINE TO PING EXCESSIVELY WHICH IN TURN CAN BE DAMAGING TO THE MOTORCYCLES ENGINE TO MY UNDERSTANDING. UNFORTUNATELY EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE TO DATE HAS NOT CURED THE PROBLEM AT ALL. SEVERAL OWNERS VIA INFO GATHERED ON FORUMS SUGGEST IMPLEMENTING THE ADDITION OF A FUEL PROCESSOR, HOWEVER THESE ARE EXPENSIVE AND IN MY OPINION SHOULDN'T BE ADDED TO DISMISS A FACTORY ISSUE. THE MOTORCYCLE WHEN PURCHASED ONLY HAD 3300 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT BE SHOWING THIS TYPE OF INOPERABLE CONDITIONS, IN MY OPINION FOR SEVERAL YEARS. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOCUMENT AS A NOTICE OF WHAT I FEEL TO BE AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE ISSUE WITH THE '08 KAWASAKI NOMAD 1600 MOTORCYCLE. THANK YOU
