WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED LEFT OR RIGHT FOR 1 TO 2 DEG. THERE IS NO RESPONSE OR A DELAYED RESPONSE FROM THE WHEELS. AS MOST WRANGLERS' STEERING WILL WANDER TO SOME DEGREE, THIS CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS BODY ROLL, OVER-CORRECTION IN STEERING AND LOSS OF TRACTION IN SNOWY CONDITIONS, PARTICULARLY WHEN 4WD IS ENGAGED. THIS HAS CAUSED LOSS OF TRACTION, NEAR ACCIDENTS AND VEERING OFF OF ROADS IN MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEAL IMMEDIATELY AFTER I COULD BARELY KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. THEY SAID THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON JEEPS FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY SOLD ME A VEHICLE WITH AN OPEN RECALL. THEY REPLACED ONE LOWER LINK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, NOTHING ELSE. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. THEY GAVE ME THE STANDARD TROPE THAT IT COULD BE THE TIRES, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. AS I HAVE SEEN ON A LOT OF JEEP FORUMS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. AT HIGH SPEEDS IT MEANS CONSTANTLY OVERCORRECTING AND CORRECTING TO KEEP VEHICLE IN LANE. THIS IS TACKING BACK AND FORTH AT HIGH SPEEDS TO AVOID HITTING VEHICLES OR BARRIERS ON EITHER SIDE OF YOU. TERRIFYING. THERE IS ALSO A LARGE DEAD SPOT IN THE STEERING FROM ABOUT 11 TO 1 MAKING THIS EVEN TOUGHER. JEEP TOLD ME "THIS IS AS DESIGNED." EVEN THOUGH THEY COULD SEE THE PROBLEM, THE WEREN'T ALLOWED TO TRY ANY SOLUTIONS. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED/RECALLED BEFORE IT KILLS SOMEONE. THERE SHOULD BE NO VEHICLE THAT SHOULD BE "DESIGNED" NOT TO RETURN TO CENTER AND HAVE MINIMAL STEERING CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. A SECOND PROBLEM IS THAT IT TENDS TO REALLY WANDER WITH ANY OUTSIDE FORCE. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe and 2022-2026 Grand Cherokee 4Xe vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A vehicle fire can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures and not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the high voltage battery software, and replace the high voltage battery, as necessary, free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 17, 2025. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a later date. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 68C. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a center brake light that fails to illuminate can fail to indicate to other drivers that the vehicle is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers replaced the harness for the center brake light and rearview camera and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly, as necessary, free of charge. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the radio display software, free of charge. Optionally, owners can choose to remotely update their software via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update available as of May 1, 2020. The recall began April 27, 2020. The Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) is opening a Preliminary Evaluation on 2020 Model Year Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers involving a malfunctioning Instrument Panel Clusters (IPC) resulting in the loss of important vehicle metrics and other status information. ODI has received 89 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging a complete or partial loss of the IPC display while driving. The subject vehicles' IPC display includes the speedometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature, turn signal indicators, warning light, and other gauges that are normally illuminated while the vehicle is in operation. Loss of the fuel gauge while driving may lead to an inability to determine the fuel level and result in a loss of motive power, and the loss of other safety-related information may impede a driver’s ability to take action to prevent a safety risk. Furthermore, an IPC that is suddenly not visible to the driver may divert the driver’s attention from the driving task, potentially causing a vehicle crash. ODI is opening this Preliminary Evaluation to evaluate the scope, severity and frequency of the alleged IPC malfunctions and to assess potential safety-related consequences. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE21-021 on October 14, 2021, to investigate incidents alleging a stall/loss of motive power as a result of high-pressure fuel pump failures in certain model year (MY) 2019-2020 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 heavy duty trucks equipped with 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engines. During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI. ODI also received recall 21V586, involving loss of motive power due to failed CP4 fuel pumps on certain BMW manufactured vehicles. An information request letter response received from BMW indicated that failed pumps on their vehicles were caused by an interaction between pump internal components and US market diesel fuel, leading to increased slip and eventual particle-generating wear surface.
