I was driving on the highway when suddenly, my car started acting up. The lights on the dashboard started flashing one by one, from the check engine light to the battery light, and then everything went black. The infotainment system also went out, and I couldn’t control the car anymore. I was going at 65 miles per hour, and I had no steering or brakes. I did some research and found out that this is a very common problem with this vehicle. It’s a serious safety hazard for my family and me. I would really appreciate it if Jeep could look into this issue and do a full recall until it’s fixed. If they don’t, someone could get hurt or even die.

After shutting off the ignition, i was not able to turn the vehicle back on. Vehicle has 38460 miles. I had to have the vehicle towed directly to the dealership, Marino Jeep in Chicago,Il. The dealer came back two days later and stated the battery and ibs sensor required replacement. They could not tell why it stopped running and locked up. This vehicle is currently not safe as there is no guarantee it will not happen again.

I have had extensive issues with the 2022 Wagoneer Series III. Battery has failed, leather seats show wear and signs of peeling after 2 years, main car display blacks out repeatedly, moon roof rattles, heated seats have gone out TWICE in front seats and needed to be replaced, the list goes on. Most recently, the power steering went out while I was driving. I called the dealership and they told me it was likely a fluke and to keep driving it. 4 days later, an automatic update was installed and now the Forward Collision Warning light is on. I don't know whether the collision system will work or not - can't test it, obviously. My safety is obviously at risk. Power steering stops mid-drive. Anti-collision system errors out. These most recent issues started on November 1, 2024.

Previously filed complaint #11586511, which was fixed after a 3 week wait on how to fix the problem. 11/4/2024 the problem has recurred. I think they did a factory reset the last time, because I had to reprogram all my settings and there were no parts shown being replaced on the repair sheet.

This is the second time this issue has happened. 1st time it happened about 1 year ago and jeep replaced some parts in relation to the ECM and etorque system. The issue happened today once again. Our jeep wagoner will just stall out our sputter in a manor to almost stall. Today it happened in the middle of an intersection while the wife was driving our 2 children home. Will have to take it in again, although it is now out of warranty by 4,000 miles. I am curious to hear what they have to say. Components have been replaced in the past regarding this issue by local Jeep dealer. The battery light came on and the check engine light came on. After a stop and restart only the check engine light is lit.

Incident: Was pulling up to a gated entrance waiting on Gate to open, then as I pressed the gas to go, the engine shut off and lights appeared on dash in yellow- the Auto Shut off with an Exclamation point, Check engine light, traction control light, and the throttle control light was in red. The car was then cranked back up and pulled into parking space but did not move as it should it was slow. Turned car off again and this time it was very slow to crank. Once it was cranked, the car had a noticeable shake to the vehicle. Prior to incident, no issues or lights were on the dash. Car was tested by local mechanic and had the following codes appear on diagnostic test: P1414 Cylinder 4 Reactivation Control Performance, P032F Combustion Engine Producing Insufficient Torque; P2172 High Airflow/Vacuum Leak Detected This happened one previous time pulling away from a stop light several months ago (again at a slow speed-car shut off and auto shut off light appeared). Did not report or document as I was able to get car cranked back up immediately and continue driving with no issues at that time.

On [XXX] I was backing up trying to hook up a Uhaul trailer when suddenly my car completely lost its brakes and crashed into the trailer. The brake pedal became completely loose. Luckily for me this happened on my home driveway, because the next day I would be making a 1000 mile trip (Pennsylvania to Panama City Beach) pulling the trailer and if this had happened somewhere along the way, I probably wouldn't be alive right now or someone else could have died. My car had to be dragged onto the tow truck, because after my car crashed behind the trailer, the car got stuck and nothing else worked. Since then, my car has been parked at Hillview Motors (Greensburg/PA), awaiting a solution from Stelantis/Jeep. Today (XXX), Stelantis sent an investigator (third party contract) to inspect my car and they will image the Event Data Record using the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval. Since this is an event that I consider very serious, I am writing this report so that NHTSA can take some action so that this problem does not happen to anyone again. After it is fixed, I intend to sell my car because I no longer trust it and I will not be able to drive it with my family inside it. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 80 consumer complaints alleging an engine stall and loss of motive power on model year (MY) 2022 RAM 1500 pickup trucks and 2022 Jeep Wagoneer SUV vehicles. The particular engines in the subject vehicles are equipped with the Fiat Chrysler Automotive Group LLC (FCA) 5.7L Hemi eTorque system. The eTorque system is a mild hybrid system that lets the vehicle partially power itself. It accomplishes this by converting the captured energy from the braking system into electricity for the battery pack, which is then used to power a variety of electrical components. ETorque engines replace the alternator with a 48-volt battery-powered belt drive and a motor generator. The motor generator provides extra torque to the crankshaft during gear changes. Simultaneously, the motor generator uses the 48-volt battery pack to increase torque. Many of the complaints state that the vehicle's engine would shut off, often while travelling at slow speed, the vehicle would shift into park and apply the emergency brake. The vehicles were sometimes able to be restarted. In addition, complaints state that the malfunction warning light with the battery fault symbol appeared on the dash.  Many complaints state that a low voltage condition fault is present, sometimes not being able to restart the vehicle. On April 13, 2023, FCA announced recall 23V-265 describing a defect in certain 2021 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with 5.7L eTorque engines.  The recall described a defect in the powertrain control module software can cause an incorrect fuel mixture condition in the engine, and result in an engine stall. In February of 2024, ODI provided the complaints on the 2022 Ram 1500 and Wagoneer vehicles to FCA. After reviewing the complaints, FCA stated that “the loss of motive power was likely not caused by an over rich fuel condition (as outlined in recall 23V-265), but rather some other cause (e.g., an electrical concern that causes the engine to shut down).” A Preliminary Evaluation has been opened to assess the scope, frequency, root cause(s) and consequences of these loss/stall of motive power incidents.  Additionally, ODI may expand the scope of the subject population during the investigation, if needed. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
