2019 Jeep Cherokee

I had "service 4wd" error message appear last month and brought it into Jeep dealership for diagnostics. I was told the Power Transfer Unit is bad, the same issue has been recalled in other Jeeps but my VIN number is supposedly not impacted. I was told it would be $3650 fix that is not covered by recall, but vehicle is safe to drive in meantime. Yesterday while driving, the car suddenly shut off mid drive and shook and made noises with a new neutral 4wd error mssg and engine light on. Thank goodness the Jeep was not far from home and was not on a high traffic or mph road as that could have had deadly consequences.It took pushing it to get it back home. Jeep corporate is still refusing to add my Jeep to the recall.

I received notification stating I have a recall on my car. I never got a letter. A SRV4WD error code came up on my dash recently. I took it to my mechanic who said he can't do it, he said it's a recall. So I called the Jeep Dealership and they said it's not. So I took it to another mechanic who said it's a recall and sent me to a Transmission Shop. This shop said it's a recall and they don't have the fix and go to Jeep. So I went to the Jeep Dealer again and they said call Jeep Corp, you're not on the list. From here I called Jeep Customer Care who sent me to Jeep Recall Dept where I was on the phone over 2.5 hours before getting a supervisor. He gave me a reference code and told me to go to a Jeep dealer and if I had the codes the dealership could put me on the list. So I did what I was told. I have the codes on my vehicle and the dealership said they can't do anything? So I called Jeep back again, another long call, and spoke to 3 more people the Josh, a Supervisor in the recall dept. I told him the last supervisor gave me a reference number and said If my codes were on the vehicle I would be added to the list. I understand Vehicle specific. I worked at GM AND For in Engineering and on the floor as a manufacturing advisor. These are not Plant Specific parts. The tag associated with a vehicle shows sets, radio, color, etc, we would fly in parts from other plants all the time. My vehicle should be part of the recall 01C for the PTU defect as this is a safety concern. Josh said I should follow up with the nhtsa website as it goes to their engineering department. I've spent a lot of time, and hundreds of dollars on ppl reading my codes. I hop I can get this resolved now. Ref#[XXX] which is probably going to close and expire before anyone reads this. My codes on the Jeep are 1) PTU Lost Communication with DCTM (U1203-00) and 2) PTU Motor Component Blocked (C14A7-97). I've been told these are part of the recall by 5 mechanics now. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. On my 2019 jeep Cherokee it was fine for about a year I bought with 64,400 miles on it and then a year later my svc 4wd light comes on out of no where on and off intermittently and I called the dealership there’s is no recall for it but it’s not a normal wear and tear item it’s should last over 100k miles but the part is 3k alone not including labor cost

Jeep begins to display 4WD service light. Took it into a transmission shop who informed that Power Distribution Unit needs to be replaced. They indicated that there is an active recall on this part and that it should be taken to a Jeep Service Center. Jeep Service Center confirmed that it is indeed a PDU issue and that there is an active recall on this part. This serial number vehicle, however, is not covered by the recall. As this is the same part and symptoms, as well as year and make of auto, this jeep's serial number should be included in the recall. Please update your records to include this jeep in the recall. As of now, the Jeep has been awaiting backordered parts for 1 month, with no projected delivery date. The projected repair costs are $3800. Thank You
