2019 Jeep Cherokee

The power transfer unit (PTU) failed, which is part of Recall 01C. A warning light came on, which prompted me to bring the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership inspected the vehicle, confirmed the PTU had failed, and stated it is unsafe to drive. They also confirmed there is no remedy or replacement part available at this time. Because of this, the vehicle cannot be safely operated and I have been left without transportation.

The contact was able to roll the vehicle back into the driveway. The 4WD warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

I own a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, VIN [XXX] ], with approximately 77,000 miles. The vehicle’s 4WD transmission/Power Transfer Unit (PTU) has failed and requires replacement. This defect causes loss of 4WD function, reduced drivability, and presents a huge potential safety hazard. The symptoms are identical to those described in NHTSA Recall 25V-011 for 2017–2019 Jeep Cherokees with PTU snap-ring failures, which can result in loss of motive power and rollaway risk. Although my VIN is not currently included, the year, make, model, and defect match the recall population exactly. This failure has significantly devalued my vehicle and created an unsafe condition. I am requesting investigation into why my VIN is excluded and for the recall to be expanded to cover affected vehicles like mine. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle experienced reduced motive power and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact related the failure to the recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was test-driven. The dealer informed the contact that there was a coolant leak, and the dealer determined that the radiator needed to be replaced under warranty. The part was ordered. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that upon scanning the vehicle, there was no indication of a PTU failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the dealer PTU diagnostic test process would be escalated to the Technical Team for investigation. The contact was referred to the dealer for rental vehicle assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

On Friday, 8/1/2025, while driving my car, I lost power and the SVC4WD message came on. I took it to the dealer on Monday, 8/4/2025. The technician told me that I need a new PTU and Transfer Box unit in order to fix the problem. He told me there are no recalls for this specific vehicle. I looked on your web site and using my VIN, I was able to pull up information. See included documentation. I also called Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) and they told me there are no recalls for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I was told that only "certain" cars are affected. My car has 39,000 miles driven. It is my understanding that this particular problem appears at 39K miles. It seems to me that my car should be included in the recall. The technician also informed me that it will take "months and months" to fix the problem and it will cost $3,000+. I am a single mom on a fixed income. I cannot afford the repair cost or to be without my vehicle for an indefinite amount of time. I request that my car be included in the recall. And that you provide a vehicle for me to drive while the dealer waits for the parts considering that they are in short supply and the dealer does not know when and if they will receive the parts necessary to fix the problem.

The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "4WD Unavailable - Service Soon" was displayed with the 4WD icon illuminated intermittently for three months. The contact that while driving at 15-25 MPH, and there was a slight grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced, and the PTU needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

2019 Jeep with 59051 miles on it. Upon starting the car, the idle was low and the engine ran rough. While driving, it would stall when stopping. After several tries it would start but not stay running while idling. The jeep dealership stated the plugs were fouled, ($400), then when that did not fix it the fuel pump was bad ($4000), when that did not fix it they stated the bad fuel pump and plugs caused the engine to lose compression and it now needs a complete motor ($11,500). This car's 60K/5year warranty expired by 4 months. Turns out this problem is happening with lots and lots of jeeps. Stalling on the road while driving is not acceptable and very unsafe! Jeep needs to find the problem and recall it.

On [XXX] my 2019 Jeep Cherokee (VIN: [XXX] ) unexpectedly caught fire while [parked/operating — choose one], originating from what appears to be an internal electrical or wiring defect. No modifications, aftermarket parts, or repairs had been made to the engine or wiring since purchase, meaning the defect originated from the manufacturer. The fire caused significant damage to the wiring, requiring professional repair, and left me severely traumatized. Since late last year we have experienced intermittent shift slippage when going from just starting out to automatically shifting to next gear. This has happened many times. We never knew about any recall until we took vehicle to dealer ( Manahawkin Jeep ) for another issue with the oil filter housing leaking. The vehicle jerks forward and is not a smooth shift. The problem has not been inspected by the manufacturer or anyone else except the owner. No warnings or messages about issue.
