The contact stated that while parked or while driving on several occasions, the rear passenger-side seat belt strap became loose and failed to retract as needed, requiring the contact to fiddle with the seat belt until it retracted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and to the dealer, but the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V667000 (Seat Belts). The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2020 Jaguar F-Pace. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s side seat belt failed to retract as intended. The contact's brother-in-law was seated in the rear seat and the seat belt failed to retract afterwards. The vehicle was taken to a non-Jaguar dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the seat belt automatic locking retractors had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V667000 (SEAT BELTS). The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

Seat Belts
The rear seat belts do not retract back nor do they lock in place. You either have to pull and play with them to get them to work properly or they will not work at all!

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: The driver may be unaware that the high beams are illuminated, reducing visibility for oncoming traffic, and increasing the risk of a crash.
