THIRD BRAKE LIGHT RECALL- THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ON 2007 HUMMER H3 LIGHTS UP HALFWAY AND WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2016. THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WORKED THEN AND IS 60,124K MILES ON IT. I WENT TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND THEY TOLD ME IT FAILED DUE TO THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT BEING ONLY HALF LIT UP. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG HUMMERS IN GENERAL. I FEEL THAT THIS NEED TO BE FIXED BY GENERAL MOTORS DUE TO THERE FAULT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SHELL OUT, NOR SHOULD ANYONE ELSE $200.00 FOR A LIGHT THAT IS DEFECTIVE.

GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2010 HUMMER H3 VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE INTEGRAL CLIP-TABS ON THE LOUVER ON THE HOOD MAY FRACTURE, CAUSING THE HOOD LOUVER RATTLE AGAINST THE HOOD AND BECOME LOOSE. IF THIS INDICATOR IS UNNOTICED, ADDITIONAL CLIPS COULD FRACTURE AND THE HOOD LOUVER COULD DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: IF THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVING WHEN THIS OCCURS, IT COULD STRIKE A FOLLOWING VEHICLE AND CAUSE INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL APPLY AN ADHESIVE TO THE HOOD LOUVER TO SECURE IT TO THE HOOD. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 12, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HUMMER AT 800-732-5493 OR AT THE OWNER CENTER AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.
