ONLY REPAIR FOR THIS I'M TOLD BY DEALERSHIP IS REPLACEMENT OF THE MOTOR. COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I'M READING AS WELL.

I WENT TO A REPUTED DEALER, WHO ACKNOWLEDGED THE PAINT ISSUES WITH HONDA BUT TOLD THAT 2011 MODELS ARE NOT ONE OF THOSE. HE CONTACTED HONDA AND CAME BACK WITH AN OFFER OF $400 TO COVER THE PAINT ISSUES. BUT THAT WOULD NO WAY CUT IT AND I FEEL CHEATED AND RIPPED TO HAVE BOUGHT A HONDA. WILL NEVER BUY A HONDA AGAIN.

I FILE THIS COMPLAINT TO REPORT A DANGEROUS DEFECT IN MY 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM SUFFERING SIMILAR OR WORSE HARM WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I STOPPED MY VEHICLE AT THE TOP OF MY DRIVEWAY, WHERE IT IS FLAT, TO GET MY MAIL I PLACED THE VAN IN PARK BEFORE I STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO GET MY MAIL. THE VAN WAS NOT MOVING WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE. MY TWO CHILDREN REMAINED IN THE VEHICLE. AS I WENT TO GET THE MAIL, THE NEXT THING I KNEW MY VAN WAS MOVING ON ITS OWN DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. BECAUSE MY KIDS WERE STILL BUCKLED IN THEIR SEATS IN THE VEHICLE, I DID EVERYTHING I COULD TO STOP THE VAN. HOWEVER, I DID NOT SUCCEED. THE VAN CUT OFF THE DRIVEWAY, WENT THROUGH THE LANDSCAPED PORTION OF MY YARD, ROLLED OVER A RETAINING WALL AND CRASHED INTO MY HOUSE. AS A RESULT OF ME TRYING TO SAVE MY CHILDREN, I SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT INJURIES WHICH INCLUDED DIFFICULT SURGERY AND THE LOSS OF MOBILITY WITH POTENTIAL PERMANENT DEBILITATING INJURY. I AM STILL IN PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WILL BE FOR A WHILE. WE ALSO HAD A LOT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS STILL IN PARK WHEN IT HIT THE HOUSE. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVERS HAD TO ENGAGE THE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE TO TAKE THE SHIFTER OUT OF PARK IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SLIGHTLY TO POSITION IT TO BE PICKED UP BY THE TOW TRUCK. THE VEHICLE MOVED WHILE IN PARK AND NEVER CAME OUT OF PARK WHEN IT WENT DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAVE INFORMED HONDA OF THIS DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. HONDA INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON MAY 23RD AT BRANNON HONDA IN BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY VAN. I KNOW THEY ARE WRONG. THIS DEFECT COULD HURT OTHER PEOPLE OR KILL SOMEONE. I HOPE THE GOVERNMENT WILL THOROUGHLY INSPECT MY VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE GETS HURT. MY VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE INSPECTION. *TR

THE MANUAL SLIDING DOORS (BOTH SIDES) ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OPEN. CHILDREN AND ADULTS ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO PULL WITH EXTREME FORCE TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE. FROM THE INSIDE, PASSENGERS HAVE TO LEAN INTO THE DOOR WHILE PULLING BACK TO OPEN IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THEY SIMPLY SPRAY THE SEALS WHICH DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I ALSO CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED AN EX MODEL WITH AUTOMATIC DOORS. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, I SUSPECT PASSENGERS WILL HAVE MUCH DIFFICULTY EXITING THE REAR OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR

IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT/IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY CHILDREN TO OPEN THE DOORS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY HELP. MANY ADULTS WOULD EXPERIENCE A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY OPEN THE DOORS FOR PEOPLE. FROM THE INSIDE, YOU NEED TO PULL THE HANDLE WHILE PUSHING OUT ON THE DOOR, AND ALSO PULLING TOWARDS THE BACK. THE SLIDING DOORS DO NOT "POP-OUT DISENGAGE" LIKE ALL OTHER MANUAL SLIDING DOORS I'VE OPERATED. *TR

17V725000 · Seats:mid/rear Assembly

Nov 17, 2017

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The second row outboard seats can slide sideways to one of two positions. If a seat is placed between either of the two positions when attaching the seat to the vehicle floor, the seat will not latch properly to the seat striker, allowing the seat to tip forward unexpectedly during braking.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the seat tips forward during braking, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a bracket to the second row outboard floor strikers, free of charge. The recall began April 2, 2018. Owners may contact American Honda Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is S0G.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) received a Petition dated May 30, 2026. The Petition is requesting an investigation into inadvertent air bag deployment in model year (MY) 2011-2017 Honda Odyssey vehicles. The Petition contends that air bags can deploy absent a sufficiently severe event to trigger a deployment, such as an impact, rollover event, or G-force threshold breach. The Petition further alleges that the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) conflict and inaccurate data is being recorded for the air bag system. The Petitioner cites 10 complaints received by ODI alleging the same failure. ODI will evaluate these complaints to determine if they are related to the failure cited in the Petition andconduct a technical review under 49 CFR Part 552. This Defect Petition is being opened to evaluate whether to grant or deny the Petition. The Petition can be viewed at NHTSA.gov under NHTSA Number 11744118.
