2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid

Electronic Power Steering Rack in bad/defective. Will not return to center naturally. Diagnosed by Honda Dealership. I can no longer drive in a straight line. I'm constantly bouncing from line to line on the road. My tires are even wearing incorrectly because of this. They are so loud now. Currently it's not a safety risk but the more I drive it the worse it gets. It will eventually become a safety risk! Yes, the problem has been reproduced by the dealer. I have been told part has been on order and is critical backordered with NO ETA. The also preformed an alignment check and a multi point inspection. No warning lights or messages. I found this problem just by driving my vehicle.

The steering wheel is sticking while driving. The Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA) systems is off. The steering wheel is slightly off at highway and local road speeds and feels like its moving on its own. It feels like the steering wheel is twitching and does not feel safe to drive. I have turned off all the extra safety and driving features and the steering wheel is still twitching.

Vehicle steering sticks and cause a momentary increase in steering effort that could potentially cause overcorrection and an increased risk of a crash. The sticking typically happens when the steering wheel is slightly turned to the left; the steering column and wheel automatically skip back to the right. It feels as if it is 'jumping' or 'skipping' a cog in a wheel. Initially this happened only on the interstate on trips of longer duration (I purchased the car new in July 2023 and first noticed it on my first road trip in November 2023), but beginning in January 2024, it has started happening regularly while I am driving around town on surface streets. At this time, I do not feel as if it causes a significant safety risk, however given that the issue has significantly increased in frequency in a few short months (November- January), I do have concern that it could cause major safety concerns if not addressed. I have not taken the car to the dealership yet. I have seen that many other owners of 2024 CRVs have filed similar reports with NHTSA and there are numerous accounts on ownership groups online, so I wanted to file my own. I do believe this should be a recall issue. No warning lamps or lights have appeared thus far. I am open to having the issue inspected if necessary. I will be contacting my dealership today. This isn't about a specific incident. For about four weeks, I've been having an issue with the steering on my 2024 Honda CRV Hybrid. When I get up to speed on interstates, the steering becomes sticky or clunky. After the car goes straight for a half mile or so, it will resist minor adjustments in steering. It's most pronounced when I try to adjust the steering wheel to the right. The steering is not smooth like I experienced with each of my other cars. I've turned off the lane change warning system, to no avail. It seems that I have to drive the car for awhile before this problem surfaces. Right now, the problem is just annoying. But I'm concerned that if it get worse, it might become dangerous.

Steering becomes stiff and sticky intermittently. Problem first occurred with approximately 3,700 miles on the vehicle. Initially the problem was only apparent on the interstate highway at speeds of approximately 70 mph and after about 30 minutes or more of continuous highway driving. The resistance felt on the steering wheel can be overridden, but the result is difficulty maintaining a straight path down the highway due to over corrections. I now have 4,200 miles on the vehicle and the problem is showing up at lower speeds of approximately 40 to 50 mph. Lane assist and lane departure are both off. I checked tire pressure and it was good (35psi front 32psi rear) There were no warning lamps or messages. When driving around town at lower speeds the steering works fine. I took the vehicle to the local dealership service department and a steering rack is on backorder due to arrive April 2024.
