I OWN A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. AT AROUND 25000 MILES I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE REAR WHEELS. THE HONDA DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR TOLD ME MY BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I STATED THERE MUST BE SOME DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE OR BRAKES BECAUSE THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACING THAT SOON AND THE REAR BRAKES SHOULD NEVER NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE FRONT BRAKES. THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND CHARGED ME THE FULL PRICE OF MORE THAN $250 FOR REPLACEMENT. THEY ADMITTED THE NEW BRAKE PADS WERE "A LONGER LASTING MATERIAL". I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE WELL-DOCUMENTED DEFICIENCY IN 2008-2009 ACCORD BRAKES AT THE TIME AND THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION THE ISSUE NOR OFFER ANY DISCOUNTS. *TR

ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK AND CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE TO DANGERS SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 70MPH. I HAD TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. THEN I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE REVVED VERY HIGH. I MADE SURE MY FOOT WAS ONLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. WITH IN ABOUT 10 SECONDS THE CAR STOPPED REVVING, BUT NOW MY BRAKE ROTOR ARE WARPED. I MADE SURE MY FLOOR MAT WAS OUT OF THE WAY. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER. THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN WITH MY HONDA ODYSSEY. *TR

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.
Remedy: HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.
