TRUCK ONLY HAS 27,500 MILES ON IT. NEVER SEEN A DIRT ROAD, NOT DRIVEN IN THE WINTER.$1700.00 LATER ITS FIXED. MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET AND GMC HAS NOT RECALLED THESE TRUCKS FOR THIS PROBLEM THEY KNOW ABOUT. HAS SOURED MY TRUST IN THEIR BRAND.

-ALL STARTED WITH LOUD POP, METAL FAILURE SOUND. -AT A STOP, WITH BRAKES APPLIED, THE POWER STEERING TURNS THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE TO PULL TO THE LEFT TO KEEP THE WHEEL CENTERED. (NOT MOVING) THIS PRESSURE ISSUE WILL FINALLY STOP AND THE WHEEL WILL CENTER ON IT'S OWN. -STEERING HAS SLOP, FEELS LOOSE, DEAD CENTER -WHILE AT SPEED APPLYING THE BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TORN FROM MY HAND 3 TIMES. THE POWER STEERING CAUSES TRUCK TO CHANGE DIRECTIONS WHEN BRAKING. 99% OF THE TIME THE TRUCK TURNS RIGHT. THE HYROBOOST SYSTEM IS TURNING THE STEERING SYSTEM TO THE RIGHT WHICH CHANGES THE DIRECTION OF THE TRUCK. -WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING ASSIST APPEARS TO TURN OFF AND ON. AS IF THERE IS A POWER LOSS OR TOO MUCH POWER WAS APPLIED THAN IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. FIRST DEALER VISIT THE TECH DEEMED THE TRUCK UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS WAS DETERMINED BY JUST DRIVING THE TRUCK FROM THE SERVICE LANE TO THE GARAGE. TECH IDENTIFIED A GM TSB (PIT5501D) TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE AND CONTACT GM. GM OUTLINED A REPAIR HOWEVER THE REPAIRS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR A SECOND OPINION. THIS WAS AFTER RETURNING TO THE DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME AND STATING THE STEERING SYSTEM IS NOW LEAKING AND THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS WITH SOME IMPROVEMENT. 3RD VISIT AT THE 2ND DEALER: SECOND DEALER DROVE THE TRUCK WITH ME AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE DEALER TECH WAS DRIVING AND I WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THEY DEEMED IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND PUT ME IN A LOANER. 2ND DEALER IDENTIFIED METAL IN THE STEERING FLUID AND PARTS THAT CONTAIN FLUID MUST BE REPLACE. PERSONAL THOUGHTS ARE THE STEERING BOXES ARE FACTORY DEFECTIVE AND CAUSING THEM TO FAIL OVER TIME. THIS THEN INTRODUCES METAL INTO THE HYDROBOOST SYSTEM WHICH RESULTS IN BRAKE AND STEERING FAILURE. *TR

SIDE THORAX AND HEAD CURTAIN AIRBAGS ARE LISTED AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR THE 2016 GMC SIERRA TRUCK LINE. I DISCOVERED AFTER MY PURCHASE THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE SIDE AIRBAGS. AFTER RESEARCH I LEARNED THAT WHEN YOU SELECT THE DURAMAX ENGINE OPTION, GMC DELETES ALL SIDE AIRBAGS AND DOES NOT NOTIFY THE CUSTOMER. IT IS DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS SIDE AIRBAGS OR NOT. SO THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT POSSIBLY THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS BELIEVE THEY HAVE SIDE AIRBAGS (LIKE MYSELF) BUT IF THEY SELECTED THE VERY POPULAR (AND QUITE EXPENSIVE) DURAMAX ENGINE OPTION, THEY DO NOT HAVE THE SIDE AIRBAGS AS ADVERTISED. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE THAT GMC IS DELETING FROM ADVERTISED STANDARD EQUIPMENT WITHOUT PROPERLY ADVISING CUSTOMERS. IT WOULD BE A TRAGEDY IF SOMEONE IS INJURED IN A VEHICLE THEY BELIEVE HAS SIDE AIRBAGS BECAUSE OF THE DECEPTIVE PRACTICE. THIS POSSIBLE AFFECTS OTHER YEARS AND POSSIBLY THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO ALSO.

21V504000 · Air Bags:side/window:curtain:inflator

Jul 1, 2021

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

19V088000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:storage:tank Assembly

Feb 7, 2019

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2018 GMC Sierra 3500 and Chevrolet Silverado 3500 trucks equipped with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks. The fuel-level sensor in the front tank may stick in a low-level position, allowing the rear tank to overfill the front tank.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the front tank overfills, the excess pressure may cause the front tank to expand and contact the driveshaft, possibly resulting in a hole in the tank. The hole will leak fuel, which in the presence of an ignition source, can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: GM has notified owners, and dealers will replace the rear-tank fuel-pump module, inspect the front tank and, if necessary, replace the front tank, free of charge. The recall began July 30, 2019. GM's number for this recall is N182204190.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, 1500 Crew Cab Special Service, Tahoe Police Pursuit/Special Service, GMC Sierra 2500, and 3500 vehicles. The brake pedal pivot nut may loosen, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: If the brake pedal becomes loose or inoperative, the driver may be unable to stop the vehicle by using the brake pedal. Additionally, a loose pedal may also interfere with the accelerator pedal. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the nut with increased tightness, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18278. Jul 10, 2017

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Consequence & remedy

Consequence: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782.
