BRAKE PEDAL HARD AT TIMES WHEN ENGAGED, THUS PROVIDING NO BRAKING POWER UNTIL CONSUMER RELEASES PEDAL AND ENGAGES BRAKES.
WHEN APPLYING THE ABS BRAKES, THE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS PROBLEM WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STOP MUCH FURTHER THAN IT WAS INTENDED TO DO. *AK
OWNER CLAIMS THAT SHE HAS TO PUSH ON THE BRAKES VERY HARD BEFORE THEY BRAKES RESPOND. *AK
BRAKES: WHEN DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP, ESPECIALLY IN A PANIC STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND WILL NOT CATCH, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *AK
BRAKES DOES NOT WORK WHEN THERE IS HOT WEATHER. ONCE THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED TRUCK STOPS, BUT WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED SECOND TIME THE TRUCK DOES NOT WANT TO STOP. THE TRUCK HAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, AND THE BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP ON THE SECOND TIME AROUND. *AK
WHILE MAKING A TURN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR , ABS WAS FULLY ENGAGED . THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP IN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON WET ROADS AND APPLYING BRAKES, THE WHEELS LOCK UP/SLIDE.
ABS BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN THE ABS BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR. ITS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. VEHICLE WOULD HAVE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE AFTER BRAKES ARE APPLIED. *AK

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN 4-WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ABS (ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM) MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 1989 THROUGH AUGUST 1996. UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS THE SWITCH WHICH SIGNALS THE ABS SYSTEM WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN 2-WHEEL OR 4-WHEEL DRIVE CAN MALFUNCTION CAUSING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES DURING ABS STOPS WHILE IN THE TWO-WHEEL DRIVE MODE.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THIS OCCURRED AT A TIME WHEN MINIMUM STOPPING DISTANCE WAS REQUIRED, A VEHICLE CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE OR REPAIR THE 4-WHEEL/2-WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH.

THE TRAILER HITCH ATTACHING BOLTS WERE NOT TIGHTENED TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE. THIS CAN LEAD TO LOOSENING AND SUBSEQUENT BREAKAGE OF THE FASTENERS.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHILE THE TRAILER WAS BEING PULLED, THE HITCH AND TRAILER CAN SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL TORQUE ALL EIGHT TRAILER HITCH BOLTS TO THE CORRECT TORQUE.
