THE ENTIRE REAR CROSS MEMBER THAT CONNECTS THE FORE AND AFT RUNNING FRAME MEMBERS ROTTED OUT AND DROPPED OFF THE TRUCK. THIS INCLUDES THE SPARE TIRE ENCLOSURE, THE CHAIN WINCH AND SPARE TIRE -- BROKE AWAY FROM THE TRUCK AS IT WENT OVER A BUMP. WITH IT WENT THE FUEL EMISSION CONTROL TUBING THAT NOW REGISTERS AS A FAULT ON THE DASH BOARD. THIS WAS A SERIOUS FAULT AND FORTUNATELY IT OCCURRED ON A RURAL ROAD INSTEAD OF A BUSY HIGHWAY WHERE IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO ANY FOLLOWING VEHICLE. ALARMINGLY, WHEN SPEAKING TO MY MECHANIC, HE SAYS THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON. IN FACT, HE HAS REPAIRED MANY FRAMES ON RANGERS -- SPARE TIRES FALLING OFF, BUMPERS FALLING OFF AND SO ON.. INDEED, THERE IS A BUSINESS WHO SPECIALIZES IN REPAIR FRAME PARTS TO REPAIR ROTTEN RANGER FRAMES. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE ENTIRETY OF THE REMAINDER OF THE TRUCK SHOWS LITTLE OR NO RUST BUT AFT OF THE REAR WHEELS IS TURNING TO SWISS CHEESE. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN TOWING A TRAILER WHEN A BUMPER FALLS OFF?. APPARENTLY, FORD HAS KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. I PULLED OVER AS DID THE VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND ME. THE SPARE TIRE ASSEMBLY HAD RUSTED OFF WHICH LET THE TIRE LOOSE AND FALL OFF. THE TIRE NARROWLY ESCAPED THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTION ON THE TRUCK , THE MAIN FRAME HAD COMPLETELY CRACKED OFF AS DID THE SPRING HANGER. I CONTACTED FORD RELATIONS AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS IS TOTALLY UNSAFE OF FORD TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS FORD AS IT ALMOST CAUSED A FAMILY OF 3 AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THIS TRUCK AND HAVE HAD IT UNDER COATED EVERY TOO YEARS. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2004-2006 Ranger vehicles that received replacement front passenger air bag inflators under a previous recall. The replacement front passenger air bag inflators may have been installed incorrectly.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: An incorrectly installed inflator may not properly inflate the passenger air bag, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and reinstall the front passenger air bag inflator, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S08. This recall expands and replaces previous recall number 23V-125.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006 Ford Ranger trucks. Ford is requesting owners NOT TO DRIVE these vehicles until they have been repaired. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode. On January 11, 2018, Ford Motor Company (Ford) notified NHTSA that they are recalling 2,700 model year 2006 Ranger vehicles built with passenger-side air bag inflators. As of February 9, 2018, Ford is expanding the recall to a total of 33,310 model year 2006 Ranger vehicles built with passenger-side air bag inflators. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006 Ford Ranger trucks. Ford is requesting owners NOT TO DRIVE these vehicles until they have been repaired. On January 11, 2018, Ford Motor Company (Ford) notified NHTSA that they are recalling 2,700 model year 2006 Ranger vehicles built with driver-side air bag inflators . As of February 9, 2018, Ford is expanding the recall to a total of 33,310 model year 2006 Ranger vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is superseding a previous recall for certain 2004-2006 Ford Ranger trucks to implement a final repair. Upon deployment of the driver side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.

ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, PASSENGER CARS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITHOUT GREASE BEING APPLIED TO THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: AFTER A PERIOD OF CONTINUOUS USE ON THE HIGH SPEED SETTING, LACK OF GREASE ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR MAY CAUSE THE GEAR TO DISTORT OR FRACTURE DURING OPERATION RESULTING IN A LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION. INOPERATIVE WIPERS UNDER INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS COULD CAUSE A CRASH DUE TO IMPAIRED VISIBILITY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE WIPER MOTOR FOR THE PRESENCE OF GREASE AND GREASE THE WIPER MOTOR GEARS IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 22, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673 OR LINCOLN/MERCURY AT 1-800-521-4140.
