The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while shifted into reverse(R), the rear-view camera was blank and then operated intermittently; however, the image was blurry. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on two occasions. During the first visit, the contact was informed that the harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a different dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the camera needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted during the first inclement weather. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while shifted into reverse, the screen turned blue with a message that the back over prevention camera was unavailable. The failure was intermittent. The contact first received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V082000 (Back Over Prevention). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who inspected the vehicle and replaced the wiring harness clips in the rear of the vehicle. The contact received a second notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, and it was determined that the camera did not need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); and the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact back to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

The owner received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle had passed the recall test, even though the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Additionally, the contact stated that the rearview camera failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the rearview camera needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact that the VIN was not included in a related recall; however, the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. I received this recall for my backup camera a couple years back and I tried to get it fixed because mine had stopped working so I went when I was off from work to avoid being carless. I received this recall for my backup camera a couple years back and I tried to get it fixed because mine had stopped working so I went when I was off from work to avoid being carless. The Ford dealership in Yuma AZ didn't get the part in time after having my vehicle for a week. I was unable to complete the recall and when I called a couple months later to try to reschedule they told me the recall number had been closed. Therefore my vehicle could no longer be fixed. My rear backup hasn't worked since. Is there anyway to get this situated? I tried going within a reasonable timeframe from getting that letter but they later cancelled the recall somehow.
In March 2023 safety recall 22V082000 (Ford Number 22S06) was performed to fix a rear view camera malfunction. During the March 2023 work, only the wiring harness was replaced. In March 2023 safety recall 22V082000 (Ford Number 22S06) was performed to fix a rear view camera malfunction. During the March 2023 work, only the wiring harness was replaced. My belief was that the actual camera should have been replaced as well. Replacing the wiring harness in March 2023 fixed the issue for 13 months, and then the issue re-occurred. Dealership charged $230 diagnosis fee to tell me that the issue was the camera and now the replacement of the camera cost me the $230 diagnostic fee; The $75 part fee for the camera; and the labor to replace the camera - Total bill out of pocket $530. I was informed after calling the Main Ford Customer service number that my 2016 mustang was not part of the camera recall (only the wiring harness). Camera was only covered with 2015 mustang. Seems odd to me that they make that distinction between model years but it is the same camera and obviously failed on my vehicle. As a major safety concern I believe Ford has failed to support their customers regarding this issue, and a second recall is warranted for the camera portion on 2016 models as well.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the deck lid wiring harness had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the deck lid wiring harness failed again and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,433.

Dear Sir/Madam: I want to make you aware of the safety recall scam Ford is perpetuating in their rear camera recall. Recall #22S06/NHTSA Recall 22V082. I own a 2016 Ford Mustang which I purchased new in February 2016. I always had issues with my rear camera working intermittently. Finally on [XXX] (mileage 14933) I took it to the selling dealership and told them about the problem. At that time they said they could not "duplicate the problem". The car was under a 3 year 36,.000 mile warranty at the time. I first started seeing notices on the internet in 2020 that Ford was issuing a recall on rear cameras. I was very happy to hear this as my camera was still only working about 1/3 of the time. In March 2022 I got a letter from Ford notifying me of the recall. They stated parts were not available at that time but I would be recontacted to schedule a repair at no cost to me when parts were available. In January 2023 I received a letter that parts were now available. But a new element was introduced for the first time. It was no longer a rear camera recall, "but repair of the 1uggage compartment wiring harness". My selling dealer was not on the list of authorized dealers for the repair so I scheduled an appointment with another local dealer who was on the list. They examined my car and said that the wiring harness was OK, but that my rear camera needed to be replaced. They said it would cost $461 for the part and labor. My camera was still working about every third time I drove it. However, since their "inspection" the camera has not worked at all. At the time of the inspection they could not complete the recall because they had to order parts for the rear wiring harness as they were not in stock. I questioned the service writer as to why my camera no longer worked at all since they had "inspected it"? He did not know. Meanwhile the service writer at the dealership suggested I contact Ford directly for assistance with the cost of the camera replacement. I called the Ford Customer Relationship Center on [XXX] an

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles. Water and road salt may corrode the front seat belt anchor pretensioner cables.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A corroded cable can break, preventing the seat belt from properly restraining an occupant, and increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace both front seat belt anchor pretensioner assemblies, as necessary. In addition, dealers will remove sections of the carpet and underlayment that contact the cables. Dealers will also inspect the A-pillar sealing patches, and as necessary, install A-pillar body plugs, and/or inspect and replace the front outboard seat bolts. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed October 20, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated December 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S92. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and June 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V270. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 8, 2025.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles. The rearview camera wiring may be loose or damaged, which can result in a blank or distorted image.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the decklid wiring harness and/or replace the rearview camera, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 23, 2022 and June 26, 2023. Remedy parts are expected to become available in the 4th Quarter of 2022. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles manufactured February 24, 2015, to August 30, 2016. A hose may separate from the engine oil cooler tube assembly causing an oil leak.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A sudden loss of engine oil may cause engine failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, an oil leak, in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine oil cooler tube assembly, free of charge. The recall began on March 23, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S40.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection," and 225, "Child restraint anchorage systems."

Consequence: If the restraint components do not function as intended, the occupants may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- Takata (now known as TK Global), the Independent Testing Coalition, and Exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of Takata desiccated PSAN inflators using propellant 2004L (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004L is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004L.The Office of Defects Investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated PSAN frontal inflators manufactured by Takata. This investigation will require extensive information on Takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated PSAN inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=EA21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds).
