I WAS ALMOST CRUSHED BY A SEMI TRUCK AS I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING. I WAS TOLD BY FORD DEALER TO JUST RESTART ENGINE AND ALL WOULD BE OKAY. THIS TEMPORARILY FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT THE NEXT DAY THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME I CAUSED A LARGE BACK UP OF CARS BEHIND ME CAUSING A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION. NOW WHEN I TALK TO FORD REPRESENTATIVE THEY TELL ME THAT IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT I AM ON MY OWN TO FIX. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, MY CASE IS NOT ALONE. THERE IS MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME SITUATION. FORD FAILS TO RECOGNIZED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. *TR

A FRIEND OF MINE THAN LET ME BORROW HIS MOBILE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. THE NEXT TIME I BROKE DOWN I WAS ABLE TO GET A CODE, THAT CODE WAS P2111 (TAC SYSTEM STUCK OPEN). ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL FORD SHOP THIS IS GOING TO COST ME OVER $600. AGAIN, I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, HOWEVER, AND IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER FORD VEHICLES. 'CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03' HALF OF THE ABOVE STATEMENT WAS A COPY&PASTE FROM MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT. I HAVE YET TO HEAR ANYTHING BACK. SINCE THAN, I'VE BROKEN DOWN SEVERAL MORE TIMES. ONE OF WHICH I WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY RAN OVER BY AN 18 WHEELER SEMI. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND COULD VERY WELL COST ME MY LIFE! I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE SOME FORM OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO MY COMPLAINT AND HOPEFUL APPROVAL TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL ME. THANK YOU. *TR

THAT'S WHEN I WENT TO MY LOCAL FORD AND MENTIONED 'CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03' THEY INFORMED ME OF THE "MANY" FORD VEHICLES THAT ARE COVERED TO BE FIXED UNDER THAT RECALL OR WHATNOT. HOWEVER, FORD MUSTANGS WERE NOT ON THAT LIST. I FEEL THIS IS UNDOUBTEDLY A FORD ISSUE, ONE OF WHICH THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED OUT OF YOUR POCKET AND NOT MINE. IT'S VERY SAD TO HAVE THE EXCITEMENT OF GETTING A NEW CAR AND NOT EVEN BEING ABLE TO DRIVE IT OUT OF TOWN BECAUSE YOU ARE SCARED FOR YOUR LIFE! I HAVE NOW BROKEN DOWN COUNTLESS TIMES, MOSTLY BACK TO BACK (ON THE FREEWAY). IT MAKES MY PERSONAL WORLD AS WELL AS MY PROFESSIONAL LIFE A LIVING HELL SINCE I'M HAVING TO RENT CARS OUT OF MY OWN POCKET EVERY TIME MY BOSS NEEDS ME TO DRIVE OUT OF TOWN FOR HIM. AN ABSOLUTE JOKE IF YOU ASK ME. ANYHOW, ITS BEEN MONTHS NOW THAT I'VE MEANT TO CREATE THIS COMPLAINT. I HAVE NEVER NEEDED TO DO THIS BEFORE SO IF THERE'S ANOTHER STEP I MAY BE MISSING OR IF ANY QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ANSWERED, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO GIVE ME A CALL. THANK YOU! I WILL BE ANXIOUSLY WAITING BY THE PHONE :) *TR

DEPENDING ON WHAT THE TEST SHOWED I WOULD BE GIVEN THE COST TO REPAIR. HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH FORD TOO. THEY ALL STATED THAT IT PROBABLY WOULD NOT BE COVERED WHICH CAN RUN ME UP TO AN ADDITIONAL $300. I HAVE PAID TO HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANT AS WELL AS PAY THEM TO SERVICE MY CAR. THE PASSENGER SEAT ELECTRONICS HAS ALREADY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CLIP ON THE EXHAUST BROKE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE ELECTRONICS IS BREAKING. THE SEAT WILL NOT MOVE. FORD WILL NOT TAKE OWNERSHIP OF POOR QUALITY. NOW BIGGER CONCERNS WITH ALL THE AIRBAG RECALLS AS TO WHY THE 2011 HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED! *TR

WHEN SLOWING TO TURN LEFT INTO A PARKING LOT WAITING FOR TRAFFIC IN THE OTHER DIRECTION TO PASS SO THAT I COULD SAFELY TURN...ONCE IT IS SAFE TO TURN, WHEN I STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THERE IS A VERY SLOW RESPONSE TIME FOR THE VEHICLE TO START ACCELERATING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN THAT THE CAR WON'T GET OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY. IT HESITATES FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AFTER I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEFORE ANY ACCELERATION. THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN THE CONDITION THAT I DON'T COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE TURNING. IF I SLOW TO APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH OR LESS AND THEN PRESS THE PEDAL TO ACCELERATE INTO THE TURN, THAT IS WHEN THERE IS A DELAYED RESPONSE. *TR

PE11024 · Inability To Shift Gears On Acceleration

Opened Aug 3, 2011 · Closed Dec 14, 2011

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Power Train:manual Transmission

The Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) analyzed complaint data provided by Ford as well as complaints submitted to ODI from consumers. In total, there were 364 unique reports indicating various shift quality issues while driving.Ford identified several factors that may contribute to shift quality concerns in the subject vehicles, including cold transmission, clutch stay-out at high engine speeds, gear clash or grinding, and gradual loosening of clutch plate bolts in some early production vehicles. The largest percentage of complaints indicated higher than expected shift efforts in cold ambient temperatures. These complaints were related to transmission fluid viscosity and the higher shift efforts resolved themselves with the drivetrain warming.Ford published technical service bulletin TSB 11-3-18 to inform technicians that a lower viscosity fluid was available for use to address the cold shift issues. The clutch stay-out condition typically occurs at engine speeds greater than 4000 rpm.It does not prevent the selection of any gear, but may delay clutch re-engagement depending on how long the driver maintains the higher engine speed.Ford identified rotating inertia of the clutch components as the root cause and replacement clutch pedal parts were made available under Ford TSB 10-19-4.A number of reports alleged increasing difficulty selecting gears along with gear clash or grinding.Grinding or notchy gear shifts may be caused by gradual loosening of clutch plate fasteners, which is promoted by certain aggressive shifting. This condition is progressive in nature and initially results in symptoms related to shift quality/feel.Clutch plate bolt loosening will not result in inability to select any gear unless the progressive symptoms are ignored until complete clutch failure occurs.ODI?s analysis identified only five complaints alleging an inability to shift into gear due to loose clutch plate bolts.None of these resulted in a stall and gear shifting could occur before engine start.A revised fastener was designed and implemented in production and is available for service through a special service message. There is no indication of loss of motive power or unreasonable safety risk associated with the alleged defect in the subject vehicles. This preliminary evaluation is closed.
