The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel inadvertently drifted to the left. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that there was severe wear on the front passenger’s side outer tire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

The spouse reported that the rearview camera image was blank, and none of the rear sensors provided any notification or warning, resulting in the vehicle reversing into a tree. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number 25V455000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and 25V686000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the parts to complete the recall repairs were not yet available. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,700.

The failed component is a lifter/camshaft. Luckily I was attentive to my vehicle and noticed a ticking noise within the engine and took it to a dealer for diagnosis. Intermittent delay in throttle response. Sometimes the delay is nonexistent or nearly imperceptible, other times the delay can be 2 seconds or more. Is very dangerous when trying to merge with flowing traffic. Occurs most often with the steering wheels turned and accelerating from stop, but has happened while driving straight at freeway speeds. Turning off traction control seems to mitigate but not entirely eliminate the issue.

The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving at various speeds. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the vehicle was functioning normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact reported that in December 2024, the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact recently received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V455000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and related the failure to the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Remedy: Dealers will update the image processing module software, free of charge.This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model years. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 214, "Side Impact Protection."
Consequence: An air bag that does not deploy properly during a crash increases the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver and passenger front door side impact sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 3, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21C26.
