The contact's husband owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated while her husband was driving 30 MPH and pulling into the dealer's driveway for an oil change, the vehicle stalled. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was pulled into the service bay. The dealer was able to diagnose the vehicle with the assistance of a manufacturer field technician. The dealer diagnosed that there were metal shavings in the oil and in the fuel system. The dealer repaired or replaced the internal high-pressure fuel pump components. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V957000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while the dealer was performing an oil change on the vehicle recently, and the dealer informed the contact that there were metal shavings in the oil and there was oil leaking into the engine compartment. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V250000 (VISIBILITY) and 24V957000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal and the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed diesel fuel was on the ground. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000. Remedy: Dealers will update the image processing module software, free of charge.This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model years. The Safety Certification Labels are missing the tire size, rim type, and tire pressure values for both the front and rear axles. Consequence: A fractured driveshaft can cause a loss of drive power, or a loss of vehicle control if the driveshaft contacts the ground. Additionally, unintended movement could occur while parked if the parking brake is not engaged. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
