Vehicle was having issues with acceleration. It started subtle where I could tell it was taking a little more time to catch or switch gears as I accelerated. It quickly progressed as I drove it more (within weeks of noticing the issue) that I could not safely turn on to higher speed roads from a slowed or stopped speed. For example if I turned on to a high way, whether merging or from a stop sign, I could not accelerate in a timely fashion to safely merge at high way speed and had to pull over on the shoulder to let other cars pass until the truck could accelerate. I did take it to a Ford dealership to be diagnosed and fixed. There they discovered the issue was the CDF clutch. They replaced the CDF clutch and found that a valve body had some damage as well so that was also replaced.

Have lost rpm's while driving-lasting about 3-5 seconds before engaging the gears again. Took to a dealer, was informed it was a "known" issue and would need the transmission replaced. Extended warranty will not cover since it is a known issue. No warning lamps or messages in the display center. The loss of rpm's and delayed shifting issues could cause stalling and put me and others at risk with possible loss of power/motion while moving. Especially while driving on the highway.

Ford installed parts into transmissions that are the reasons for certain years 2017-2022 models with the 10R80 transmission to fail. Ford has since remanufactured the same parts to prevent this problem with models after 2022. Ford refuses to admit it was their manufacturing defect, but will repair your transmission at a hefty cost to you when Ford vehicles with the affected transmissions fail. There are numerous TSBs (technical service bulletins) stating that Ford is aware of the problems that occur with these faulty transmissions. Ford will only post these TSBs on its website and not mail them out to consumers; the consumers have to find them for themselves. There are videos online clearly explaining the problem. I am leaving links to both of them. https://youtu.be/4SQjPinDAm0?si=k14FHcC-VV3WHelg https://youtu.be/H1Rl97OUOa4?si=wO1KmxWX2jNStXmV

The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was also slipping out of gear. While driving 45 MPH, the transmission downshifted to 1st and the vehicle slowed down unexpectedly. There were no warning lights illuminated. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the engine was making an abnormal clattering sound. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced, and stated that the cam phasers were possibly causing the engine to make an abnormal sound. The transmission was replaced; however, the engine failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25E070000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was informed of the transmission failure and advised the contact that no support would be provided for the repair prior to receiving the recall letter. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Since buying my Ford 2018 F150 Raptor, I have had constant issues and problems with the 10R80 Transmission shifting irradictly, harsh engagements, stalling between gears while losing power, loud metal noises in the transmission/under the truck, and damage already done to the transfer case and transmission resulting in a truck that needs a new transmission, CDF, and transfer case. I have had this truck worked on 8 times on the transfer case, and constant reprogramming of the PCM because the technicians at the dealerships did not know how to completely fixed it and just followed the TSBs that were given by Ford. Most of which they just reprogrammed the PCM and the adaptive learning program which Ford said it was most likely causing the issues. In 2023 they found damage inside the transfer case with metal bore damage and two valves, which they replaced, it worked for a year, and now my transmission is completely damaged permentaly from not solving the initial issues. As of October of 2025, the new TSB 25-2474 and TSB 25-2475 which addresses replacing the entire transmission and/or CDF. Of which Ford knew the whole time. This past month I was almost in 7 accidents due to the transmission shifting suddenly, not shifting at all and stalling going through an intersection with cars behind me, and Ford told me this whole time that the harsh shifts were normal or desired in these performance trucks. I have three kids under the age of [XXX] who ride with me in this truck, and almost risked their lives trying to fix these issues and almost involved in accidents from the transmission failing. The transmission and transfer case/valve bodies have been worked on at least 6 times under warranty, but now it just expired and Ford is stating they cant do anything now because it is expired, yet it is now completely broken. Ford is quoting 12,000 for a new transmission, transfer case, and CDF Valve. Even though they did not fix the original issues this whole time. While attempting a left-hand turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of motive power. Upon acceleration, the 10R80 transmission slipped out of gear, causing the engine RPMs to spike (rev) without transferring power to the wheels. This left the vehicle momentarily stationary in the path of oncoming traffic, nearly resulting in a broadside collision. After a delay, the transmission violently engaged, causing the vehicle to lunge forward with enough force to spin the tires and nearly cause a loss of steering control. There were no prior warning lights, "limp mode" indicators, or messages on the dashboard before or during the failure. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership, where technicians confirmed a failure internal to the 10R80 transmission. The service department stated this is a "known issue" with this transmission model and recommended a full replacement. This failure represents a significant safety hazard due to the unpredictable loss of power in high-stakes driving situations.

2PE24019 · Low-pressure Fuel Pump Failure
Opened Jul 29, 2024 · Closed Sep 19, 2025
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Fuel System, Gasoline:delivery:fuel Pump
On July 29, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE24019 to investigate complaints of low-pressure fuel pump failures in MY 2021 Ford Bronco vehicles. Some consumers reported that the failure occurred without warning while driving, resulting in a complete loss of motive power with no ability to restart the engine. Ford determined that several other vehicle models contain low-pressure fuel pumps substantially similar to the 2021 Ford Bronco, including the 2022-2023 Ford Bronco, 2018-2023 Ford F-150, 2022-2023 Ford Expedition, 2019-2023 Lincoln Navigator, 2020-2023 Ford F-250-F-550, 2024 Ford Super Duty Chassis Cab, 2024-2025 Ford Ranger, 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, and 2021-2025 Ford Mustang. ODI's investigation found that the affected vehicles may lose fuel pressure and flow from the fuel delivery module (consisting of a low-pressure fuel pump, jet pump, reservoir, and other parts) due to a low-pressure pump failure. This can cause the engine to stall while driving. The root cause is reduced internal clearance in the fuel pump, increasing friction and sensitivity to vapor lock. Fuel blockage from contamination inside the jet pump also contributed to the failure. Ford stated that the contamination source was unknown. On July 7, 2025, Ford filed recall 25V-455 for certain 2021-2023 Ford F-550 SD/F-450 SD/F-350 SD/F-250 SD, 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, 2021-2022 Ford Mustang, 2021-2022 Ford F-150, 2021-2023 Ford Explorer, 2022 Ford Expedition, and 2021-2023 Ford Bronco vehicles produced between July 1, 2021, and July 30, 2022. The recall also included certain 2021-2023 Lincoln Aviator produced between July 1, 2021, and December 21, 2022. Ford explained in its recall filingthat the production dates used for the recall were based on changes in the manufacturing process. Specifically, Ford determined that in June 2021, the supplier modified the jet pump manufacturing process, producing fuel pump chambers with a lower-than-specified internal clearance. In July 2022, the supplier implemented corrective actions to the manufacturing process by adding two additional vacuum pumps to reduce contamination during the production of the jet pump. ODI has identified approximately 1,000 reports involving vehicles covered in this investigation but excluded from recall 25V-455. However, even with such reports, these vehicles experienced comparatively lower failure rates than the vehicles that are subject to Recall 25V-455. Ford has explained that these vehicles were excluded from the recall population because they did not experience the manufacturing changes that prompted the recall. Specifically, according to Ford, vehicles built before July 1, 2021 (the recall production start date), were not affected by the supplier’s change to the jet pump manufacturing process. Even after closing this investigation, ODI will continue to monitor complaints for vehicles excluded from recall 25V-455 to consider whether they exhibit the same risks as the vehicles encompassed by the recall. The recall remedy is currently under development. In view of Ford’s recall action, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation, but will continue to monitor the issue as a remedy is developed and implemented. ODI will take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. To review the reports cited in the Closing Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.
PE18008 · Seatbelt Pretensioner Fire
Opened Aug 3, 2018 · Closed Dec 17, 2018
Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Seat Belts:pretensioner
On June 18, 2018, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE18-008) to investigate complaints alleging post-crash fires at the B pillar in the area of the seat belt pretensioners on MY 2014-2018 Ford F-150 Regular Cab, and Super Crew Cab Vehicles. On August 24, 2018, Ford Motor Company recalled (FSA 18S27 - NHTSA #18V568) the affected population. Ford's investigation found that some front seat belt pretensioners may generate sparks during deployment in excess of Ford's specification. Sparks in the pretensioner exhaust gases inside the lower portion of the B-pillar may subsequently ignite combustible components contained in the B-pillar, such as insulation or carpet, and may cause a subsequent vehicle fire. ODI also requested relevant information from other manufacturers to assess the potential scope of post-crash pretensioner fires. Ford will notify owners and require dealers to remove B-pillar insulation material and wiring harness tape, and install heat resistant tape, free of charge.
