2018 f150 5.0L engine. Uses excessive oil. Usually have to add 2-3 qts of oil between oil changes. Numerous times (over 20) I have stopped and vehicle would not start because oil level was too low. Happened multiple times before I knew what was causing this issue. Same vehicle transmission will shift from 4th gear to 2nd causing engine to rev high and jerk one forward. Ford knows about the oil issues with these engines. This is causing unwanted expense with having to add oil between changes, excessive engine wear, and damage to other engine components and exhaust system components.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon depression of the accelerator pedal, an abnormal grinding sound was coming from the front wheel of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was discovered that failure was caused by partial engagement of the integrated wheel ends (IWE), which needed to be repaired. The contact stated that the engine actuator and various other engine parts were replaced to repair the vehicle. The contact reached out to the manufacturer online and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for further assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

The vehicle is available for inspection and evaluation if needed. Also can provide all records for service and repairs over last 2 years. Transmission failure hard shifting between gears 3-5 and 8-10, downshifting while driving vehicle will slow down and downshift even when accelerating. Had evaluated at several ford dealership that stated a new transmission was only solution after several attempts for re calibration and reprogramming. Causing a safety issue when accelerating and at high speeds. Yes my safety has been put at risk multiple times. Also the risk for passengers in the vehicle as well. The problem was reproducible several times at dealerships and repair shops. And all places stated the only way to fix is with new transmission which was purchased in 2024. There were warning lights (check engine) came on and transmission was overheating with normal city driving and highway driving. Every time the light would come on it was evaluated by a dealership every time. was told be dealership at initial notice of issue in April of 2024 that it was OK to drive with the shifting the way it was, that it was uncomfortable but that it wouldn't harm the transmission, which was not true. It continued to increase in severity until it was also overheating and unable to be driven.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was off, the contact became aware there was condensation underneath the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was not able to be replicated. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the oil pan and cooler lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The dealership indicated that there is a service bulletin out at FORD addressing this very issue, however FORD Motor Company will not pay for the repair. There is no way a brand new vehicle should be using this much oil in that little of miles driven. I have searched the web and found hundred of vehicle owners who are describing the exact very nature that I am reporting. FORD's fix was to put thicker oil in the motor and change the oil dipstick. I own a 2018 Ford F-150 with 56,000 miles, and I have been experiencing serious and unpredictable transmission issues. These problems first started around 48,000 miles, but at the time, I assumed it was normal behavior. However, the issues have progressively worsened, and by 55,000 miles, a wrench warning light started appearing intermittently. Symptoms: •While driving at highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly drops from 10th gear to 1st gear, causing a sudden and severe deceleration. •The gear shifts are jerky, unpredictable, and rough, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. •The wrench warning light appears occasionally but disappears quickly, making diagnosis difficult. •No diagnostic trouble codes (D DTCs) are stored or retrieved when scanned at multiple repair shops. •The issue happens intermittently, making it challenging to replicate on demand. •Started noticing issues at 48k miles, but they became significantly worse around 50k miles when the wrench light began appearing. •I called Ford to reset the radio/computer software, after hearing it might help, but it did not resolve the issue. •The unpredictable transmission behavior causes severe anxiety while driving, as I never know when it will happen again. Attempts to Fix: •I have taken my truck to multiple repair shops and Ford dealerships, but since no codes are present, they have been unable to diagnose or fix the issue. •Mechanics have checked for transmission recalls or software updates, but no clear solution has been provided. •I contacted Ford for a radio/computer software reset, hoping it might help, but this did not fix the problem. Safety Concerns: •The abrupt downshifting poses a serious safety hazard to myself and other drivers on the road, especially at high speeds. •There is an increased risk of accidents due to sudden deceleration and loss of control. •The problem occurs without warning, making it difficult to predict or prevent.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 20V097. When the headlight switch is turned from "Autolamps" to "Headlamps On," the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) may remain fully bright instead of dimming to parking lamps as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Daytime Running Lamps that do not dim may reduce the visibility of other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: ,Dealers will reprogram the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 17, 2026. Owners may contact customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Quickly moving the shift lever from Park to Drive may cause a loss of gear indication on the instrument cluster display and a momentary selection of an unintended gear, such as Reverse or Neutral.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Unintended gear selection may cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction, increasing the risk of crash or injury.

Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Unexpected tailgate opening may allow unrestrained cargo to fall out of the truck bed and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the left-hand and right-hand tailgate latches, free of charge. An interim notification letter was mailed January 31, 2022. Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recliner mechanisms may be missing the third pawl required for seat back strength, resulting in a loose seat back. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints" and 207, "Seating Systems."
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: A seat back with an improperly assembled recliner mechanism may have reduced strength and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Ford F-150 and 2017-2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty pick-up trucks equipped with an engine block heater. Water and contaminants may get into the block heater cable's splice connector causing corrosion and damage.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: When the heater is plugged in, prolonged corrosion could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring which can increase the risk of a fire.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with 3.5L engines. The cylinder heads may have been machined without lubrication supply holes for the camshaft bearing journals.
Consequence & remedy
Consequence: Without a proper supply of lubrication, the engine will fail, causing a stall and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Ford is not aware of any affected vehicles outside of dealer control. On July 29, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE24019 to investigate complaints of low-pressure fuel pump failures in MY 2021 Ford Bronco vehicles. Some consumers reported that the failure occurred without warning while driving, resulting in a complete loss of motive power with no ability to restart the engine. Ford determined that several other vehicle models contain low-pressure fuel pumps substantially similar to the 2021 Ford Bronco, including the 2022-2023 Ford Bronco, 2018-2023 Ford F-150, 2022-2023 Ford Expedition, 2019-2023 Lincoln Navigator, 2020-2023 Ford F-250-F-550, 2024 Ford Super Duty Chassis Cab, 2024-2025 Ford Ranger, 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, and 2021-2025 Ford Mustang. ODI's investigation found that the affected vehicles may lose fuel pressure and flow from the fuel delivery module (consisting of a low-pressure fuel pump, jet pump, reservoir, and other parts) due to a low-pressure pump failure. This can cause the engine to stall while driving. The root cause is reduced internal clearance in the fuel pump, increasing friction and sensitivity to vapor lock. Fuel blockage from contamination inside the jet pump also contributed to the failure. Ford stated that the contamination source was unknown. On July 7, 2025, Ford filed recall 25V-455 for certain 2021-2023 Ford F-550 SD/F-450 SD/F-350 SD/F-250 SD, 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, 2021-2022 Ford Mustang, 2021-2022 Ford F-150, 2021-2023 Ford Explorer, 2022 Ford Expedition, and 2021-2023 Ford Bronco vehicles produced between July 1, 2021, and July 30, 2022. The recall also included certain 2021-2023 Lincoln Aviator produced between July 1, 2021, and December 21, 2022. Ford explained in its recall filingthat the production dates used for the recall were based on changes in the manufacturing process. Specifically, Ford determined that in June 2021, the supplier modified the jet pump manufacturing process, producing fuel pump chambers with a lower-than-specified internal clearance. In July 2022, the supplier implemented corrective actions to the manufacturing process by adding two additional vacuum pumps to reduce contamination during the production of the jet pump. ODI has identified approximately 1,000 reports involving vehicles covered in this investigation but excluded from recall 25V-455. However, even with such reports, these vehicles experienced comparatively lower failure rates than the vehicles that are subject to Recall 25V-455. Ford has explained that these vehicles were excluded from the recall population because they did not experience the manufacturing changes that prompted the recall. Specifically, according to Ford, vehicles built before July 1, 2021 (the recall production start date), were not affected by the supplier’s change to the jet pump manufacturing process. Even after closing this investigation, ODI will continue to monitor complaints for vehicles excluded from recall 25V-455 to consider whether they exhibit the same risks as the vehicles encompassed by the recall. The recall remedy is currently under development. In view of Ford’s recall action, ODI is closing this Preliminary Evaluation, but will continue to monitor the issue as a remedy is developed and implemented. On June 18, 2018, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE18-008) to investigate complaints alleging post-crash fires at the B pillar in the area of the seat belt pretensioners on MY 2014-2018 Ford F-150 Regular Cab, and Super Crew Cab Vehicles. On August 24, 2018, Ford Motor Company recalled (FSA 18S27 - NHTSA #18V568) the affected population. Ford's investigation found that some front seat belt pretensioners may generate sparks during deployment in excess of Ford's specification. Sparks in the pretensioner exhaust gases inside the lower portion of the B-pillar may subsequently ignite combustible components contained in the B-pillar, such as insulation or carpet, and may cause a subsequent vehicle fire. ODI also requested relevant information from other manufacturers to assess the potential scope of post-crash pretensioner fires.
