The rear-view camera began working intermittently, and displaying a scrambled image when it did not work. It then stopped working all together and now only displays a blank screen. This began about 2 years ago, and it finally stopped working altogether about 1 year ago. I want to report it because the current rear-view camera recall stops at the 2015 model year, but my 2014 has the same problem.

Bought truck on 2/25,. 7/15/25, wife went to store took truck. When she went to stop truck noticed brake pedal was going down but truck stop. Brake light went on so she turned around home. She drove slow when she reached the front of house pressed brake to stop truck brake pedal went all the way down. Could not stop truck with brakes so she hit curb with tire to stop it.I checked brake fluid canister and is was empty. No leaks on street.I called dealer; three days later truck was towed by dealer to their place.I was told master brake cylinder assembly and booster assembly has to be repaired.I paid 1,648.22. I called Ford for any recalls (I was concerned about brakes) I was told that there was a brake recall repaired by All American Old Bridge, dealership I bought the truck from.Repaired was done on April 12, 2017. Recall Number is 16S24 I noticed that it was exactly same problem I paid for. I told Ford what happened and I wanted my money reimbursed At first I was told the warranty expired, it was either 12 months or 12, 000 miles. I explained it was a Safety Recall not a warranty. The person would not allow me to file for reimbursemenent and after going back and forth finally told me file a claim.I did. Another weeks past and I called again, went through the whole explanation again. Asked to speak to supervisor and after a conversation told me go to dealer to file papers.I did and service manager at first started saying the same thing but eventually put in the claim. I waited several weeks, then check with dealer who told me Ford had to give a code. Called Ford was told no code needed.Called dealer and told them. Several weeks later check dealer and was told still needed code. I called Ford, and asked for a code I was told again about the warranty expiring .I spoke with supervisor same problem. Is 4 months. Nothing. Ford is not complying with Federal Safety Recall Law that does not expire. Need investigation about truck brake problem and reimbursement money.

I experienced an abrupt downshift while driving ~60 mph and the speedometer/odometer quit working, an orange wrench light appeared, and the engine light came on. My vehicle had Ford recall 24S37 open, which relates to the OSS and a symptom is an abrupt downshift. I took the truck to the local Ford dealer. They indicated that there were no codes showing- which I am suspicious of given the issues I experienced and I had a private reader read the truck after the recall programming and it did show an O2 sensor code- P0131 and at one point a P0722 code. The Ford dealer performed only the programming as part of the recall. After the recall programming, the truck experienced additional abrupt downshifts. I had to take the truck in again and pay for them to read the code even though I had the codes. After reading the code they indicated that the lead frame needed to be replaced. I had this replaced out of pocket (~$1138.21) and the O2 sensor for a total invoice of $1521.85. I contacted Ford to express my concern and frustration- case #CXH05849514. It appears that the recall programming was not effective in eliminating the problem.

Took in my vehicle to my local Ford Dealership after I experineced sudden downshift of the transmission and getting stuck in 1st gear. I asked for a reantal vehicle or a loaner to which they said, it would depend whether or not there would be any PCM related codes that came back after connecting the car. According to them no codes came back, and explained to me that, that being the case that they would just need to reprogram my PCM. The next day I went and picked up my truck, and after just about roughly 7 miles into driving, I started experiencing sudden downshift again and my truck started slowing down rapidly almost causing an accident and getting rear ended. I was able to pull over and noticed this time my truck had gotten stuck in 4th gear. I was able to drive it back to the dealership and left it parked in the their parking lot as it was after hours at this point. The very next morning by 7:30AM I was at their service desk explaining what had happened the night before after picking up my truck from them. They refused to give me any further service as they said that they had already completed the service related to the 24S37 recall, and that if I continued to experience issues, that it was a completly unrelated issue and if I wanted to get it diagnose and repaired that it would be out of pocket. After doing more reserach online, I came to find out that on some of this recall issues related to 24S37, in some cases the dealership would have to replace the entire Lead Frame which holds the Transmission output shaft speed sensor which goes bad and causes the transmission to go crazy and thus the downshifting, and in other cases they don't have to replace this part. In my case, while there were no other codes that showed, they determined that only a reprogramming was necessary. However, given that I continue to experience the same sudden downshift issues, I suspect that it is a bad output shaft speed sensor which should be replaced under the current safety recall.

RQ24005 · Unintended Transmission Downshift

Opened Mar 27, 2024 · Closed Jul 29, 2024

Status: closed (inferred from source dates) · Power Train:automatic Transmission:control Module (tcm/pcm/tecm)

In September 2016, Ford Motor Company (Ford) issued safety recall 16V-248 which included certain model year (MY) 2011-2012 Ford F-150 vehicles equipped with 6-speed (6R80) automatic transmissions. This recall was in response to allegations of unintended, unexpected vehicle transmission downshifting to a lower gear without warning, often accompanied by temporary rear wheel lock-up, increasing the risk of a crash and/or injury, and included approximately 153,581 vehicles. Ford identified the root cause of the unintended, unexpected vehicle transmission downshifting to a lower gear to be intermittent signal loss from the transmission’s Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor due to solder joint cracks on the OSS circuit board as a result of manufacturing process issues. The OSS sensor is mounted onto the molded lead frame and transmits changes in transmission shaft speed to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The remedy program described in safety recall 16V-248 involved reprogramming of the PCM to prevent unintended vehicle transmission downshifting from occurring. In December 2017, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Recall Query (RQ17-010) to assess the scope and remedy effectiveness of safety recall 16V-248. As a result of this ODI investigation, Ford issued safety recall 19V-075 to expand the scope of 16V-248 to include MY 2011-2013 Ford F-150 vehicles equipped with 6-speed (6R80) automatic transmissions and included approximately 1,263,051 vehicles. The remedy program described in safety recall 19V-075 involved reprogramming of the PCM to prevent unintended vehicle transmission downshifting from occurring. In June 2019, Ford issued safety recall 19V-433 as the remedy program used to service MY 2013 Ford F-150 5.0L and 6.2L vehicles in accordance with safety recall 19V-075 did not contain the necessary updates to prevent unintended vehicle transmission downshifting from occurring and included approximately 107,857 vehicles. On March 27, 2024, ODI opened this Recall Query (RQ24-005) to investigate the scope of the above-described safety recalls. At the time that this investigation was opened, ODI had received 86 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) reporting allegations of unintended, unexpected vehicle transmission downshifting to a lower gear without warning, often accompanied by temporary rear wheel lock-up, in MY 2014 Ford F-150 vehicles. As a result of this Recall Query, Ford filled safety recall 24V-444 on June 14, 2024, to include MY 2014 Ford F-150 vehicles and expand the scope of safety recalls 16V-248, 19V-075 and 19V-433. The remedy program described in safety recall 24V-444 involved reprogramming of the PCM to prevent unintended vehicle transmission downshifting from occurring and included approximately 552,188 vehicles. In its May 2024 response to ODI’s information request, Ford concluded that a predominant root cause for the intermittent OSS signal loss has not been identified outside of the original safety recall (16V-248). Ford’s investigation also concluded that the primary causes of the defect in MY 2014 F-150 vehicles were related to the molded lead frame and the control assembly transmission main. In the May 2024 response, Ford identified 2,184 total reports that described unintended vehicle transmission downshifting and rear wheel lock-up events; 1,441 warranty claims and 743 reports from consumer complaints, field reports, consumer surveys, and lawsuits/legal claims. Note that the values presented here and in the table above represent the total number of reports which can include a single consumer with multiple reports of the same event as well as a consumer with reports of multiple distinct events. Of the 1,441 warranty claims, 551 warranty claims involved repair of the molded lead frame (38%) and 509 warranty claims involved repair of the control assembly transmission main (35%).
