MOTORCYCLE: LOOSE FUEL TANK DUE TO EXPANSION OF THE TANK. I HAVE A 2009 DUCATI SPORT CLASSIC 1000 AND WAS MADE AWARE TODAY AT THE DEALER THAT THE GAS TANK HAS EXPANDED TO THE POINT WHERE IT SO LOOSE THAT IT VIRTUALLY LIFTS OFF THE BIKE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DANGEROUS CONDITION BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AND DUCATI HAS NOT INF…

MOTORCYCLE: LOOSE FUEL TANK DUE TO EXPANSION OF THE TANK. I HAVE A 2009 DUCATI SPORT CLASSIC 1000 AND WAS MADE AWARE TODAY AT THE DEALER THAT THE GAS TANK HAS EXPANDED TO THE POINT WHERE IT SO LOOSE THAT IT VIRTUALLY LIFTS OFF THE BIKE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DANGEROUS CONDITION BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AND DUCATI HAS NOT INFORMED ME OF THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. A NEW TANK IS BEING ORDERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME COMPONENT SO THE NEW TANK WILL EVENTUALLY EXPAND AS WELL. APPARENTLY THE COST OF THE TANK IS OVER $2000 SO ONCE MY WARRANTY EXPIRES THIS IS A COST I WILL HAVE TO BEAR. PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS SO THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION WILL HAVE TO PERSIST FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. THERE MAY APPARENTLY BE A SOLUTION TO SPRAY THE INSIDE WITHSOME TYPE OF EPOXY BUT I AM NOT WILLING TO BEAR THE $250 COST OF DOING THAT. *TR
