REPLACEMENT OF THE ABS MODULE AND THE ABS EHCU WERE REQUIRED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. VERIZON HAS HAD MANY UNDERHOOD FIRES IN THIS MODEL VAN WHICH ORIGINATED IN THE ABS MODULE AREA. VERIZON FEELS THAT THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION WHICH WARRANTS FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND REPAIR BY DAIMLERCHRYSLER.
BRAKE HOSE HAS CONTINUOUSLY BEEN RUBBING ON UPPER CONTROL, VEHICLE HAS BEEN LEAKING BRAKE FLUID.*AK
DRIVER WAS MAKING A PANIC STOP WHEN BRAKES TOTALLY FAILED, CAUSING REAR END CRASH. VEHICLE DID NOT STOP.FRONT WHEELS LOCKED UP, BUT REAR DID NOT. IT TOOK DEALER 2 WEEKS TO FIX DEFECT. ALSO, THEY HAD TO REPLACE WHEEL CYLINDERS/ SPRINGS/ PADS AND TURN DRUMS. *AK
RECURRING BRAKE FAILURES ON FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. DEALER "REPAIRED" 2X PRIOR. ABNORMAL PAD WEAR -- INNER PAD, OKAY -- OUTER PAD GROUND DOWN TO BARE METAL. BRAKES PULL TO LEFT. DEALER UNCOOPERATIVE IN REPAIRING UNDER WARRANTY. WANTS US TO PAY FOR NEW PADS (EVEN THOUGH ONLY 5,000 MILES OR SO SINCE LAST REPAIR). *AK

THERE ARE NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ALLEGED DEFECT.WHILE CONDUCTING THIS INVESTIGATION, ODI FOUND THAT THE SUBJECT CINCHES MEET THE LOAD BEARING REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD 208, AND THAT MANY OF THE REPORTED FAILURES WERE DUE TO INCORRECT CHILD SAFETY SEAT INSTALLATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THE REPORT RATE IS LOW (1.60/100K).THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE FAILS TO ESTABLISH THE EXISTENCE OF A DEFECT TREND AT THIS TIME.FURTHER ALLOCATION OF AGENCY RESOURCES TO THIS ISSUE IS UNWARRANTED AND THE PRELIMINARY EVALUATION IS BEING CLOSED.
